I'm hoping SW is busy behind the scenes and is working on a transfer list he's had for awhile as well as identifying and swooping for players that are getting released unexpectedly. Would like to see another 5-6 top notch signings please.

It's one thing strengthening the squad, it's completely different changing over half the team. I don't think we need such a big overhaul as some request. In fact if we got just one more proven striker, I'd be happy to lelave it at that.

I'm thinking strength and depth. Added competition for places will improve the squad overall and we have had some long term injuries to contend with so cover for positions is vital. Also allows SW to switch options and systems and if we are playing a high tempo game then need to rest players/cover for suspensions.
If we want to emulate Solihull, then we are going to need proven quality throughout the team with a hopeful step up to national not requiring a team overhaul as most players in place.

Good luck to Thewlis but he's just not gonna get us the goals we need, decent player though. Knowles, Shiels and Kerry are all staying! Great news about Knowles he can really get us the goals to fire us up! Shiels staying also means were gonna have a solid defence again! Also fantastic to see Kerry staying! he was excellent last season and I feel our 3G pitch will benefit him too!

Really need to get attacking options sorted now. Thought Thewlis would be useful coming off the bench in games this season but with him going would like to see left back getting sorted, midfield and then up front.
Hope that SW is insulated from the efforts going into 3G and has the option of funds so he can concentrate on the team. Really want to hit the ground running this season and get the feel good factor going to offset any negativity about the new pitch.
If we don't strengthen and results go against us at home, it'll be like watching air come out of a balloon. After the excellent efforts this season, both on and off the pitch, really need to push on!

Another good call by Simon. He wasn't prolific enough, to put it simply.

Apparently we've got Burrell. Hope that's true as good attacking midfielder.

Thought Thewlis tried to retain the ball too long and lost it at key moments. However, he had loads of energy, and commitment, and he could change the pace of a game and I would rather have a young, keen lad who wants to try to play football than be witness to turgid, frustrating displays of 'hoof ball' and then then endure the ensuing wrestling matches. Good luck to him at his new club. Coaches and managers need to be good enough and brave enough to develop and trust young footballers as well as being able to handle the more experienced players to get just the right balance and team spirit and so that young talent is not squandered and mercenaries are not accepted.

Walters would be an upgrade on Thewlis. He is better in all areas. The question is, would he come to HTFC?

Big step down from championship. Still, money and playing time talk and Vardy and some of the other lads in the premier have shown that as well as coming through academies to play 1st team you can also learn your trade in the lower leagues.
We will also have state of the art on pitch and training facilities, vociferous support , good transport links, rubbish night clubs so no need to go out enjoying yourself, aspirational club, chips on the menu?, exciting new signings (hopefully) and increasing fanbase. Just saying like.........

I don't think money should ever be offered as the chief incentive for a footballer to choose to go to any club. Offering big money can make some players see the club as a cash cow. It's a given that players command certain levels of pay and to be honest, there aren't' many reasons other than money for a player from the dizzy heights to want to come to play for a conference north side ( even our own Harrogate Town,) I don' t think we should be advertising the fact that money is a reason to come- that' s for the shrewd negotiators of the player representatives and the club

Big week of information coming out. Retained/released list will be out as well as hopefully info on ticket pricing. New kit for coming season, increased merchandise range, NEW website maybe/hopefully. Decision on chips? How full time are we going? New signings?

Delighted that Kerry and Shiels are staying. Kerry could surely operate at a higher level so its a great coup for us to keep him. On balance I'm pleased that Knowles is staying. If he stays fit and has a full season (and at least one quality striker alongside him!), he could deliver on his promise and reputation. Good luck to Thewlis at Trinity. He is a good and promising player but not quite good enough for us. Hope he does well there (except when they play us, of course).
Lets hope for more news this week, we now have a Head of Communication, so lets hope for more of the latter! Disappointing that nothing about Thewlis on the official site. Or indeed confirmation about Kerry etc.

The communication at the club goes from bad to worse.
Players confirming they are staying yet nothing on the website. Press releases from other clubs saying they have signed players from Town yet nothing on our website. Other clubs releasing information on preseason friendlies against Town yet nothing from club.
Decision to go 3G released by a fan before the club. Club apparently going full time yet not a word.
It would be nice to get some communication from our communication manager.

Liam Hearn has signed for Ilkeston. Shame we never got to really see what he was capable off but best of luck to him, hope he sets that division on fire.

We dodged a bullet with him to be honest. Ryan Kendall Mark 2. Another good decision by Simon.
You would think Simon would have published his released/retained list now, or is it going to be in drip feed and finding out by looking at twitter and other teams websites?

He only played 2 games for us and looked very sharp in front of goal. In my opinion I feel he could've being excellent if it wasn't for injuries! Best of luck to him, looks like he wants to start his coaching career now as well.

I just didn't rate him, at all. Ilkeston is probably the right level for him now. I'm sure the potential outlay of wages will be put to better use, on better quality players.
