Now that the season is done. Who should be retained and who should be let go?
I'm interested to hear people's thoughts.

OK. Well, Crook clearly, I would keep McWilliams, good to see him back on Sunday, did nothing wrong for me. Turner, of course. Ellis and Shiels, also of course. Will Foster stay or will Coates graduate to 3rd centre back? Burrell, Platt and Kerry gives us a quality midfield. Will Thirlwell stay? Probably need another quality midfielder in case of injuries etc. Colbeck and Emmett (if his uni studies permit), of course. Daniels if he is not snapped up elsewhere. Another year for Thewlis to really make the grade. I know he has his fan club on here, but time to say 'thanks, but time to move on' for Clayton. Cadman is worth retaining. Not sure about Knowles, I think I would keep him, but its a fine decision. I suspect Swain will stay, perhaps because he is a local lad, next years Nowakowski?
What do we need? Clearly at least two quality strikers, and just hope they can deliver the goods.

Just wondering if Denton and King might become available. Don't really understand the Ferriby situation, they are 90 minutes away from the National Premier (well deserved, by the way), yet are, as I understand it, up for sale. Unless another wealthy person comes in how will they cope, either in our league or higher up? Anyone have any inside dope on the situation there? Just intrigues me.

McGurk is retiring from playing I believe.
I feel we have a strong squad already and only a few key players will need to be signed to strengthen the squad. A striker is a must to be signed as we need a real goalscorer although I feel if we get Knowles a full season he could be that player, looked great yesterday.
I'm guessing that Daniels will be leaving(Praying he doesn't) so we won't be able to rely on his goals next season!
I apologize if I've missed anyone..

Agree with the above, except for Paul Thirlwell, who for me needs to move across to management team and instead of maybe retain for the others, it would be maybe release, plus Luke Foster. However, I wouldn't be averse to no one being released . They are a great set of lads who play for each other. I would rather have a squad like that than have some 'big names' coming in and upsetting the equilibrium. As Ranieri alluded to about Leicester - it's not about the name, it's about the attitude and the team spirit. Can't really argue with how that has worked for his team!

Release Clayton, Thewlis, Swain, Colbeck and sign quality replacements in those positions. Everyone else, retain.
I believe the main reason we didn't go up is because of our strikeforce not being efficient enough. We created the chances, we just couldn't put them away. Strikers have to be judged on goals. Clayton and Thewlis have not produced the goods this season. They will both be aware of this.
When it comes to Colbeck and Swain. They are just too inconsistent for my liking and I think there are stronger options in those positions currently (Emmett, McWilliams)
For strengthening, if we signed Yates and Warren on season long loans or permanent deals and see if we could re-sign Danny Rowe or Dayle Southwell and get a good quality winger in, then I'd really fancy our chances next season.
Also, I believe the club needs to get their business done soon so that the team can gel and hit the ground running for pre-season.

Eight players released by Guiseley including Boshell, Toulson and Rothery!
Jason Walker released by Barrow.
Just a few examples of what is going on at the moment. There are dozens of others to be seen if you trawl the net.

Let's hope SW is busy. Hopefully has had a target list for awhile and can really add some turbo boosters to this current squad!

I think at last SW as seen just what it takes to have a very good team ..Players who want to come to HTFC and want to play for the club. Not some so called big name player who just as to turn up?
Going to be a tough league next year.Yet having served his 6 year apprenticeship, you will at last he will not rush in and sign any of these so called released superstars.
Lessons learned..

I wouldn't touch the Guiseley players!
If we are going to storm this league I think we need a squad as good as Guiseley's so if they aren't good enough for them why would they be for us?
I think Yates would be a great addition but I am sure there must be some hungry young gems in the lower leagues. If we could somehow get Southwell (no way will he come to us) then perhaps but I definitely don't want any more Walshaws or Speights.
I actually rate Colbeck, wouldn't want to see him go and I think Swain is a good strong back up player.........Do we want Foster with his baggage? I am not sure, his main concern seems to be cashing in on his ex and Vardy via the Sun.
Whatever we do we need to get it wrapped up early and get them bedded in early pre-season.

I still think that Parker and Rothery would be very good additions for any club in this League. Guiseley managed to stay up in the National League, which is a good achievement for them and Mark Bower obviously thinks he can attract better quality players in those positions. If I was Simon, i'd be having a look at them.
Yates on a season long loan would be a fantastic acquisition. He'd be a good replacement for Clayton. He'd offer us a different dimension to our attack, for sure.
Colbeck and Swain for me, it's just they aren't consistent enough. There is no doubting that they are very good players. But these 2 for me have shown (from what I have watched this season) that they have not produced consistent levels of performance. If we are going to achieve this season's goals next season (which is entirely realistic), then consistency will be key.
I haven't seen much of Foster to be honest, so can't really judge him. Next season will be a good indicator of how good he is if he stays (which I think he will)
This league is going to be an exciting one for the club next season with the quality of opposition we will now face.
Onwards and Upwards.

Also have to factor in which players would like to play on an artificial pitch next season...Sounds like the club are waiting on approval and will announce it....More money for them been able to host other games etc but I personally think it will be a bad move.

you and everyone else too.......appalling really, you would have thought something as serious as this would have perhaps been run by the fans for feedback

Not good news, hope its only a rumour. Football should be played on grass, despite the weather.

Think it is pretty much done and dusted...been lots of speculation and the club released a statement about it today...It is with the FA to give the yey or neh, so will go ahead if the FA allow it.

For me, still too much controversy about the effects of arificial turf: harbouring and development of bacteria and stress on the joints?

When do town get busy in the transfer market? Is it promising that none of our players have featured yet or is it just being kept under wraps?
