Another financial reality check for any still here, or more likely lurking.
Interestingly the club has been taken out of strata ownership and transferred to Irving Weaver. That been mentioned to weaver followers? Nah didn't think so, not relevant clearly to the little man supporting the club.
Town yet again lost nearly £1million in the financial year to 2020. This isn't just a Covid thing it's a constant feature of massive losses year after year. Simon's achievements somewhat put into perspective given these losses needed to fuel his management.
Now for many town fans, the bandwagon jumping good timers, many too naive and/or lazy to take the time to check the latest sorry state of how far town are from being sustainable.....they won't care but any fans reading this who truly love the club pre and post weavers you should be asking big questions as to the future of town.
The same question remains.....is Irving Weaver going to guarantee that all debts owing will be written off when he leaves the club?
Come on you original town fans....an accountant among your ranks, to Jordan and co as well....ask the question!!
If not when Weaver goes the club will fold when the debts are called in. You fans are the stakeholders of the club and on your conscience be it if you do not seek clarification!
As it is the adjustment of budget required will see a huge shortfall to make it sustainable.
The celebration of the weavers 'achievements' are merely celebrating one man's ability to cover the debts incurred by his son putting together teams year after year that make the club wholly unsustainable.
They are the folly of the Weavers for themselves only. Not for the club. If it was for the club why make the club so unsustainable? Why invest so heavily in the playing side but then put up tinpot stands and fan facilities? If it was for the club come out and say to the fans that all the debt (for his son's benefit) will be written off when they go?
The longevity of this period of the weavers may seem to the casual observer like it will go on for ever but the balance sheet realities are that this will not go on forever. So why not harrogate advertiser super fan, or supporters trust or anyone with a care for town ask..... Is weaver writing off it all when he goes? If not who wants to pay for a club that losses such significant sums every year.???.
Go on I dare one of you. Be a proper fan and not a subservient bandwagon jumper, doing what Planty tells you.
