Town vs Gateshead

First home game of the Pre- Season first home game under Irving Weaver too.

As Big Lundy pointed out it's Turnbull Vs Turnbull.
Town lost 2-1 to Tadcaster last weekend whereas Gateshead lost 1-0 to Huddersfield.
The squad will most probaly be the same but there will be alot of substitions unless SW decides to do two teams in two halves.

Good work out, quite a solid performance really, all the new signings looked quite impressive to be fair, Heckingbottom looks a good experienced left back, Brayson looked good, maybe would be better if he had a partner up there with him like Jonny allan, who came on and got a good assist, when he flicked on the header for the final goal. 3 new midfielders all looked good and got stuck in, their passing also was quite neat, rarely giving the ball away, Picton impresssive as usual, and the centre back that partnered him in the first half looked quite solid, as well as milne when he came on didnt really put a foot wrong.

All in all a good work out

It WAS a very impressive performance against (I assume) a more or less full strength Gateshead team. Agree with all of J2021's comments, only more so! Some of the passing erc. was really excellent and the two outfield goals were superbly taken. Certainly the new signings look mighty impressive so far: Ross, Turnbull, Brayson, Wilson etc. Heckingbottom (wish he had a shorter name!), loks at least as good as Roma and the other back, Wright also looks fine. Stimpson good too, may be some selection headaches for Simon when the season starts in earnest!
We shouldn't get carried away of course, but that really was an encouraging performance. Spoiled a bit for me by the Gateshead lowlifes and their chanting, put a dent in the family friendly image right from the start! Stewards should have intervened sooner I feel.

The first half hardly had a preseason "friendly" vibe to it, that group of Gateshead supporters threw out some truly appauling remarks, they should of left after five minutes! Other than that though, a fantastic game and a fantastic performance.
