True what a ledgend he was though, the worst thing about Weavers time at the club is not the poor form as i believe we are doing ok this season its the constant revolving door. We wont be able to look back at tge few good players of his era as they arent here long enough to get to know the fans unlike Mezza and Danny ect.

Thanks for the interest in Jonno - just to keep you up to date he was a non contract player at Town this year and in preseason he had what appeared to be a recurrence of an injury he picked up at the end of last season.
Consequently he missed the preseason games and it was decided that he should go out on loan to build match fitness, and moved down to Railway. This has worked really well but Jon still ocassionally gets a reaction to the previous injury and he has now been referred to a specialist in Leeds who has basically told him to play with gay(!) abandon and as soon as it goes again they will scan and treat - the injury is obviously not straightforward (possible back / sciatic nerve issue not hamstring) and Matt at Town has been a great help. Hope I've not bored you all to sleep - Jon has been scoring goals for fun at Rail and we had a great run in the Trophy. Personally think it will be next season before he's firing on all cylinders but still keep our eyes open for the Town result.

    Thanks for the update Ged.

Does this mean he is staying at railway? if so is he contracted?

I personally believe Jon is/was a great player for Town and given the current striker shortage would like to see if he can do a job up front with Armstrong.

Best wishes to Jon and I'm pleased to see he's doing well at Railway. I always felt he was not properly utilised at town. Personally, I would have deployed him just behind the front 1 or 2, he would've done a great job there. Then again, what do I know, I'm just a supporter!

He will be at Rail for the forseeable future - interesting looking at the stuff on the Town website - when Jonno joined Railway they were bottom of the league but team spirit even at this point was 1st class - once they got one result under their belt the momentum generated was impressive and whilst Rail have introduced a number of new players there has been a core of Rail regulars who always gave 100% - good right back Danny Thirkell, midfield guy Paul Stansfield who is a great talker / organiser and they created chances for Jon that he put away which then gave the other strikers a real lift. Have been impressed with the management team at Rail - small point but the whole team get togther in the clubhouse after every game and their is a real buzz - also injured players trun up for games and support Shocked
Once back to full fitness Jon wuld love to play to as high a standard as possible so I guess we will have to wait and see.
    Will keep in touch.

There was a time when Town players used to get together in the clubhouse, Danny Holland regularly did as did others. It's a good point though, one of many areas whereby the club has lost it's way. There's other points such as when the players coming out clapping / acknowledging supporters (not that there are many of us left) - Roy Hunter was always great at doing this.

I have also witnessed Town players that are injured, sat in the stands, but seems by the look on their faces this is an instruction from the club rather than a personal decision.

The other point I would make is that the club has become incredibly defensive about any area that needs improvement - i've no idea why this is the case, unless maybe it's not just the players that re felling the pressure.

May well pop down to station view and give it a try - in these tough economic times at least i'll save with the cost of admission. Would be good to see how other old town boys Colin and Paul Stansfield are getting on.
