Interesting to note that Bridlington are at Station View next Tuseday evening (depending on any FA Vase replay). 8pm kick off - I bet it isn't !!

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Thirwell was rightly named MOM, didn't give the ball away once, simple one touch passes all night and made the game look easy. Jack did have a good game though.

And that makes a difference because.....?CCOB wrote:Railway play on grass.
Still the same distance from Bridlington to Starbeck, give or take a few hundred yards.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
For any club wanting to play an FA Cup tie on a 3G surface rules state:-
(viii) The home Club shall allow their opposition the opportunity to use the pitch and train on the surface two hours prior to the kick-off and there must not be another game or event on the pitch following the training period. If it is intended to water the pitch before the match, the pitch shall be watered prior to the training period.
The pitch was in use up till 6pm yesterday so the kick-off had be 8pm so that Bridlington were allowed the opportunity to train on the 3G surface for 2 hours.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
But most of their players did not arrive until after 6.30pm and they then stood on the pitch for about 15 mins before going into their dressing rooms. The sprinklers came on at 6.45 for 20 mins.

Freedom of the - bored today!
So here we go ..
Having played 10 out of 11 against the mostly bottom set of teams, some would say (including me) that today against 8th placed Gloucester could be a defining game for us. Win well and we come away thinking we are good enough for top 5, lose badly and we're no match for the top few clubs.

I'm going to stick my scrawny neck out and say we will win convincingly today. Need to get back on it and turn in and solid consistent performance.

Settle for that. Hope Brooksby is ok but can see him sidelined for a few weeks. JP put a shift in and thought Jack was MoM. Top save from Crooks as well.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Great 1st half playing the ball on the floor but never came out again for 2nd half. Thought Ellis or Burrell was MOM.Leesley is really struggling at present I'm wondering if he's not fully fit. Cracking save by Crook in 2nd half. Hope Brooksby is back soon even though he had a quiet game today. Cannot wait for next Saturdays trip to FC United which is a big big game to win.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Brooksby didn't have a presence today - not sure why not. I agree Leesley struggled and weaver mustn't play him purely on past performances.
I'm not a great fan of knowles but if the ball finds him in the right place in space he does sometimes deliver - well done to him.jp is always up for it. Defence in top form today. Not sure if there's fault to be found in their goal. Crooke good save and looked safe - I have to moan the odd meaningless boot into touch though.
Anyway, we deservedly snuffed out the team in 8th position. A positive start towards toppling teams higher up in the league over the next few weeks !? Maybe.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Can see Brooksby out for weeks so Leesley needs to shake his head. I still think this team can click into a higher gear but job done today. Thought Colbeck and Turner were both getting under pressure with long diagonal balls but all in all solid effort. See FC off and then get on with October.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Not sure how much Gloucester suffered from the 2 early injuries and a third substitution at half time. Add on the injuries to Brooksby and Thanoj and I begin to wonder if the 3G pitch was in any way responsible. Anyway an enjoyable game and 3 good points.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Think Thanoj was in a tackle, Brooksby was hamstring and don't know about Gloucester's woes! Certainly a good time for us to play them what with existing I juries and FC aren't pulling up trees at the moment either. Need another professional job on Saturday.

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Don't know what happened to Hopper but their manager said Hall twisted his ankle. Thanoj was injured in a tackle and Brooksby did his hamstring. Their third substitution at half time was tactical according to their manager.Wetherby Mike wrote:Not sure how much Gloucester suffered from the 2 early injuries and a third substitution at half time. Injuries happen on grass as well.

Hoping we're starting to get into a bit of a stride now. SW seems to have settled on a team and hopefully we will get some players back. Not looking forward to Chorley away. Think that one has tricky stamped all over it!

Re: Brid & Gloucester
Great first half performance on Saturday, some fantastic passing football, and two good goals...great free kick from Thanof. Stopped passing the ball (for some reason) in the second half and almost let them back in. Well done to Knowles for taking that half chance so well. Getting a bit worried by the injuries, but this year we do have a real quality squad: Platt, Leesley and Chib are pretty good subs to have coming on!
Looks like two divisions starting to form in our league; teams like us, Fylde, Kidderminster, Chorley, Salford, Darlington, Halifax etc. winning most of their games (altho' Salford may be slipping a bit). We can't afford too many slip ups, despite our superb start: one defeat in 12!!
