Alfreton Town- getting close now!
3 pts here and we should be home and hosed. Still want 2nd spot so need to maintain work rate. #wegoagain!

Will be interesting if Hearn and Clayts play against their former club.

Hearn needs game time. Also Thewlis or Gascoigne/Emmett so number of options with a strong bench. Poss bring Hearn on 2nd half depending on 1st to give him a run out. Whatever, just get 3 pts and phase 1 of project #wegoagain is complete.

AFC Fylde play North Ferriby on saturday--a draw in this game and a Town win puts them back in 2nd place--looking at remaining fixtures for teams around Town shows up a number of top 7 clashes and this all helps Town to secure a place in top 3

All we can do is take care of our business and hope the dramas occur elsewhere. Still say we need to manage expectations and getting in playoffs is a good result.

Let's just relax lads. Take it one game at a time and trust the staff and players. We look after our results and see where it takes us.

Race is on for 2nd spot. At risk of repeating myself, finishing in the playoffs marks real progress for the club.

Apparently our midfield was outplayed...I wonder why?

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
We still need that mystery ingredient of consistency. Sounds like their first goal was from a dead ball situation crossed in, possibly a goalie error and not sure on other. We've gone and got 2 goals which has been our recent problem but then leaked 3. Still 4th though, need to be Billy big balls against Nuneaton and get the win!

Trying not to panic! Tamworth lost so almost over for them, but Nuneaton are 7 points behind and a game in hand, scary, seriously scary. We need that one more win desperately.

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
Scrappy, antsi, bitty game. We returned to kicking and heading the ball aimlessly. We were second to the ball and passes went astray more often than not. Much of the first half was like watching a game of tennis. On top of this, a couple of players had a poor game added to the fact that the mid field was ineffective. So, all in all - probably deserved the score line. Wish we didn't wait until the last 15 minutes to start playing something like we are fully capable of - as we did again today. If we went to watch a movie and were just shown a trailer for 3/4 of it and then shown the last 15 minutes of the actual film, we'd go mad. For goodness sake show some belief. Have some confidence.

Paul- What better way to get the 3 pts then beat Nuneaton at their place. We know we can do it so let's go there and play like we belong in the league above!

poor performance today by Crook again and Swain needs to quickly get back to form- the strange decision to play Gascoigne out of position is not working- Please can we get back to playing with everyone in their best position

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
It’s all about results now!
When that final whistle blows in the Corby home game on Sat 30th April if this side have missed out on a play-off place then it’s going to feel more like a relegation to the supporters who have followed & witnessed some of the great performances from the team this season!
Because they know that this side should be finishing in a top 5 position.
We all need to be in the 1919 venue @ 4.50pm on Sat 30th April celebrating the fact that we have another 2 matches to play & making up for a missed beer festival!!!!!!!

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
After their win today Nuneaton will be buzzing and full of self belief. How will our lads be feeling? Appreciate the upbeat words Surplus, but its horrible to have to go there in 3 days time. Avoiding defeat is essential otherwise the demons of doubt will really kick in. And then Boston on Saturday...bloody hell. Time to re-stock my blood pressure pills!

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
I thought SW's comments to radio York were honest and do him credit. How we perform on Tuesday night will be a good indicator for if we deserve to go up. Man up and win or lose again. My heart wants town to go up, my head tells me that being in the playoffs is a good season but promotion is maybe a stretch too far at this time. We need to have a good transfer session, maintain the core of good players and perform consistently throughout the season. Solihull will get promoted because they deserve to get promoted. We need to ask ourselves over the course of the season have we done enough.SW will have learnt a tremendous amount as will the players and us the fans. Win on Tuesday and the fun really starts.

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
I still think we are in the driving seat for that 4th spot .IMO its the 5th spot all our rivals fighting for.Tamworth have totally gone off the boil, cant see them being a threat. Agree Nuneaton will be fired up against us Tuesday but they really need no ..it's a must win on their part. Hopefully the pressure might take its toll.
On paper we still have a tough task with Boston and Fylde still to play, yet looking at there form ...So up and down ..Like us?
Always said this season' s playoff places would go to wire.We are not home and dry just yet but I'd sooner be in our position now looking at the league.... than Boston, Nuneaton or Tamworth?
Keep the faith.

Re: Alfreton Town- getting close now!
Remember that Nuneaton and Boston have still to play each other. They can't both win that.
