New players, any thoughts? Empty New players, any thoughts?

Post by sulphurite Fri Mar 06, 2015 6:08 am

Seems the doors are still revolving:

Harrogate Town are happy to release the news about the imminent arrival of former York City and current Grimsby Town player Patrick McLaughlin on loan

Joining Town on a month’s loan in time to make his debut that evening was Grimsby Town defender Paul Walker. Paul (19) signed for Grimsby straight from leaving school in 2013 and, according to the Mariner’s website “went on to be one of the most impressive players in the youth team"

Looks like McDermotts links are providing players on loan, but do we really need more?

With Ryan's loan coming to an end, and the injuries to Gascoigne and McGurk, it seems like Simon is just bringing in players to cover those positions.

Know very little about them however I would imagine that McGurk used to play with McLaughlin at York and may have recommended. I have read some really good things about him.

I'd like to think that the club are trying to extend Ryan's loan for a 3rd month, but due to his impressive form, Hull may want him back, which I wouldnt blame them to be honest. A lot of people have been raving about Nyoni and Gascoigne, but Ryan is a cracking player. Way too good for this level.

I've heard some very good things about McLaughlin, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do tomorrow.

Not heard much of Paul Walker to be honest, but he's another one to watch tomorrow.

We really need to put Gloucester to the sword tomorrow, and I want revenge for the 1-0 reverse at their place.

Depends how long they stick around? The only players who currently meet that criteria are bloomer (Simon's best mate) and nowakowski (former director's son). A review of the non playing staff and you have irving weaver as chairman, father of the manager, our beloved ged maloney (father of a former player), and ex head of communications, kay barnes forster, former partner of andrew weaver, Simon's brother! Don't lose your sense of humour ged says - you bloody well need one with such a ridiculous and unworkable setup.

No wonder they are all on side, toeing the party line. What a gravy train!!! Seems like hardly anybody at the club is there on merit, might be why we always fail. On a plus note, when one's gone, they'll all be gone.

Can't get excited when we sign anyone anymore because you know how it always ends.

I share the same sentiments as the both of you, TS & TL. But nothing we can do will change the managerial/ownership structure, so i am just enjoying watching the team play some decent football, and we are on a good run of form, and I hope it continues (for how long, is anyone's guess)

But believe me, I am totally in sync with both your opinions.

Back to the topic. Looking forward to seeing McLaughlin tomorrow (and Paul Clayton!). The recent run of form has revived my pre-match enthusiasm, it had largely gone a month or so ago, but its back now with a vengeance. Lets get some goals tomorrow...they shipped 7 last time out.

Well as Simon has lowered his expectations for this season to finish in the top 10 (was it not a top spot finish or a playoff place at least at the beginning of the season that we all expected?)i think he would call that a successful season
