Harrogate vs Oxford City Empty Harrogate vs Oxford City

    Post by TheNeil29 Wed Oct 30, 2013 9:12 am

I have decided to open this thread for the upcoming match at the weekend.

I think that this is a fixture that we should be coming away with the 3 points. Oxford aren't really doing that well this season, and now is a good time to face them in my opinion. Things havent been great in the last few months, and I really want to see the team dominate this game, and score a hatful of goals!

My line-up would be as follows:

McGillivray, Samuels, Franks, Killock, Merris, Taylor, Rowe, Bolder, Brown, Woods and Hardy, playing a 4-4-1-1 with Woods dropping off Hardy in the pocket.

Bench: Bloomer, Nelthorpe, Nowakowski, Dayle Southwell and Crook. Covers for all eventualities.

    Any thoughts/opinions?

I wouldn't even have Brown in the squad.....Would play Nelthorpe instead.

Well, I would have him in the squad. And that's my opinion, based on the fact Nelthorpe is a left sided player, not a central midfielder, but we will see on Saturday when the teams are announced. I'm going and having several beers afterwards. Are you going?

4/5 odds on Town? 36 quid for a 20 quid bet? Might just be worth a pop!

Franks suspended for the Oxford game according to the Town website. Bloomer to play in his place.

I'm going to load up on Town to win and then invest in one of those laser green shiny things, glare it in into the Oxford keeper's face for 90 mins. May's well put the house on it.. (not a guarantee). We should all get one, he'll think he's just stepped onto the set of a Predator movie.

I must be the only Town fan that can claim an assist on a Town goal. I shouted boo at the Esh Winning goalkeeper in an FA Cup qualifier just as the ball was about to roll into the keeper's hands. It completely put him off and went in. We went on to win 7-0.

Moral of the story: we the people are the 12th man and cheating works.

By the way I'm not really going to buy the laser, that wouldn't be sporting.

yeah will defiantly be there Neil as always, not for beers though (3 nippers waiting for me back home while the wife goes out and lets her hair down).

I think having Brown in the middle with Bolder just doesn't work, playing together is like a slugs pace, neither know whether to hold or drive forward.......Nelthorpe did well last game and half in the middle, he can pass, tackle but more importantly be that link with Woods and drive forward (he has to start).

I think the game against Oxford will be tight, they probably don't have a lot going forward but will keep it tight and on our narrow pitch there might not be room to play much.......I'm going for a 1-0 win, injury time winner after we bring Hall on and pile on the pressure.

I think it will be a little bit more convincing than that as Simon will want the players to provide a good peformance for the fans.

They will need to step it up a little from the Workington performance, so I'm going for 3-1 town.

Hardy, Woods and Rowe to score.

Will be very surprised if Crook is warming your bench as he will be at Ossett with Railway.

And V. It's an opinion, so go away and support your tin pot team, also known as the poor neighbours. You will never be as big as Town.

Franks is out so Matt Bloomer steps in. Simon made it plain in the Advertiser yesterday that he will keep faith with the team that beat Workington, but I fully expect Woods, Bolder and Brown to be back on the bench, and probably get a run out. We could have quite a strong team for the BPA game on Monday (and please take it seriously Simon, its silverware, and the final is a great night out): the 3 amigos above could all play, as could Worsfold, Beesley, Crooks, Rowe, Bloomer, Metcalfe, Southwell (keep him playing).

I would have gone for Nowakowski at CB in all opinion. He is just a bit more accustomed to that position than Matt Bloomer.

I do hope that there is a good crowd tomorrow, despite the weather!!

Yes.lets get it 450, at least. 500 would be nice, but unlikely. Don't suppose there will be many from the 'dreaming spires'!

I dont think it will be too far off 500.

We havent had a football fix since the Workington game, so it will be a decent(ish) crowd i'd suspect.

Problem for you 'V' is if the Weaver's do walk away you're in as much trouble as we would be as you rely on us for half your team.

Nobody has a problem with Railway, I like them a lot. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder about Town though. Maybe you struggle with the fact that deep down inside you love Town, you want to be Town, when you dream, you dream about yellow and black, you think about our 8 WRCC wins and you want to stroke your own body. It's understandable I do to0.

WE'VE WON IT 8 TIMES, WE'VE WON IT 8 TIIIMMES, THE WRCC , WE'VE WON IT 8 TIMES.

Enjoy Strictly, it will take your mind off today's disaster.

Bolder made the difference when he came on.

Too much wrong about that first half to list, but we all saw it so im sure we all know...yep Bolder on and all of a sudden we started to play the ball around. I can handle a dodgy first half if we get a win so all smiles from me.

Hardy our 30 goal a season man? I think so, he is finding that original form and is still young.

I love 3 points. So glad they didn't equalise. The weekend becomes enjoyable now. Looking forward to Worcester. We need to keep this momentum going.

Hardy is 5 in 3 now.

    Town 9 in 3. 4-4-2 = goals.

Workington won 4-2 today, not as turd as some have made out.
