Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
Well, I was beginning to calm down and then I read the post from Charlie's father, confirmed my worst fears about the way this was handled, uttely shameful. I shall go on supporting the club, but not the current ownership (which I did before). Maybe enough said.

Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
Hi Mick1423. Thanks for putting Charlie's side of this sorry business. To read how upset and let down she felt does not reflect on the club very well. I for one am sorry she was treated so poorly. I hope she was compensated adequately!! Charlie is delightful and a breath of fresh air. She will succeed in whatever she wants to do. I knew Charlie reasonably well and was on first name terms with her. Mick, I would like to show Charlie how much she was thought of and appreciated by the supporters who knew her. Have you got a forwarding address/place of work so that I can arrange this small gesture? Anyone who wants to contribute to this can see me at the next home game. Thanks.

The small gesture to Charlie would be to make three points. Some flowers, a card and some chocs.

Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
Unbelievable, I mean I was only saying the other day that the club was slapdash, only to be shot down by Ged..I thought communication was a little poor and already knew some of the senior managers walked around in a flaming cloud but to treat Charlie in this way is damn right disgusting..........I for one will never forget this, and quite honestly, Irving can pick his little baby (Simon) up and piss off out of this town, long term, probably better for the club sooner rather than later. As far as I'm concerned, Irving has no regard for the Staff,Volunteers and supporters of the club, it is as though he has bought the club to just springboard his son's career in management and will piss off anyway (infact is there any wonder, players never reach their full potential at the club, probably always worried about been slung out in the trash heap!).....Well a fat lot of good that will do Irving, your son couldn't even manage a piss up in a brewery.
Oh and DK I helped to set up the supporters club last year, after some seriously dodgy performances I criticised some of the players, one been Adam N (he warranted it at the time) on here and I had Tad/Irving etc wanting to silence me, trying to track me down at games like they are some sort of Harrogate Mafia duo. As a result I decided not to help out with the supporters club because I wanted the freedom of speech on here (to this day Tad still asks around to find out who I am) but it what a ridiculous way to act, trying to silence supporters who criticise.

That's appalling and sinister.trevdee wrote:

"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques". - Bill Shankly
Unfortunately in Town's case the manager, the chairman, a player and a director are all unhealthy bedfellows. Can this set up ever work? I have serious doubts especially now I've witnessed their breath-taking arrogance for myself.
Anyway judging from the FA Cup preview put up today it seems the club think that a win or two and all will be forgiven. I can just imagine them all sat there smugly agreeing that "a good win at the weekend and it will all blow over".

Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
I feel your anger Mick. I've just seen Ed White's comment piece and frankly it's pathetic. A real reporter would be absolutely nailing the club right now, especially over this. You'd hardly even notice anything had gone on, the way it's all been glossed over. And the delusions of grandeur continue about what a "fantastic" and "breath-taking" team Town are. Pass me the sick bag. This is the trouble with the Harrogate Advertiser, it's not actually a newspaper, it's a propaganda piece for the Town's glitterati, with the barely literate, novice hacks at Ackrill clinging for dear life to the back of the gravy train, hoping for a few crumbs or a spec of the spotlight to fall their way. This is a rag who 18 months ago tried to blame Tesco for putting Jennyfield Newsagents out of business...erm that'd be a Tesco that still hasn't even been built yet! No agenda here honestmick1423 wrote:So just to cap of a crap week htfc put a add in Harrogate advertiser

This town is stuck is stuck in the dark ages I'm afraid and it's always been this way.
Mr Chairman should be careful. Look at what happened to Tom Hicks and George Gillett at Liverpool and compared to them he's a tick turd.

Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
Of course the huge irony in all of this is that we're sponsored by a recruitment specialist. I'm sure treating employees like this is a great advertisement for them
Maybe we should drop them a line, tell them what we think.

I have worked, and still do, for nearly 20 years now in recruitment. Our sponsors are a good, sorry, VERY good firm. Lets leave them out of this this. They are a top firm from what I know, good guys and a true town fan at the helm. Thank you for your great support. we are a passionate bunch, small in numbers, but our club is our club ! players, staff come and go..the fans never will. we are town, we are proud, very proud and just love htfc. its in the blood. always will be and I will not anyone prevent my passion in supporting my club ever, ever, ever, get in the way of that !

Well I definitely think that the club would be a better place with some genuine fan input. Elected fan representation on a board gives EVERY group with a vested interest a genuine say in how the club is run. Sadly it's clear just from reading stuff on here about the club's attitude to it's own supporters club that something like this could never happen with such a bunch of control freaks running the show.
Shame on you then for sticking up for the club. You should know better.Martin L wrote:I have worked, and still do, for nearly 20 years now in recruitment.
I'll do whatever I see fit to make the jokers at this club regret their behaviour thanks. They need to know who the REAL owners of a football club are. If the sponsors are a very good firm as you say I'm sure they don't want their own reputation damaged or their money going down the plug hole.Martin L wrote:Our sponsors are a good, sorry, VERY good firm. Lets leave them out of this this.
If you're reading this Mr Annapurna, give Mr Chairman a tinkle, tell him what a plonker he's been and tell him if his poor treatment of employees were ever to be widely publicised the damaging effect it could have on your business.
Good guys? True Town fan? Good he'll be on our side then.Martin L wrote: good guys and a true town fan at the helm.
I've noticed that certain *ahem* regulars on here are refraining from posting at the moment which leads to the conclusion that they either agree with what most of us are saying or they've been gagged by the club. Don't do their dirty work for them Martin it makes you look like a little lap dog. They'd no doubt wipe you from the bottom of their shoes the second you don't conform to their ways.
Yep and to be honest it's pretty obvious how this current regime and set up will end. Let's just hope it doesn't take 5 or 10 more years for everyone to realise this.Martin L wrote: players, staff come and go..

I feel i have missed alot over the past few weeks when i have been away!
having read whats happened i feel that some people need to calm down to be honest... why drive away a chairman who has taken us from bankruptcy to a team challenging for the playoffs.

Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
I don't think we are over-reacting nztownfan. There are really three issues in play here: 1) a very popular member of staff 'offered her resignation' (yeah, right), for making one mistake 2) the club's subsequent shitty behaviour, refusing to mention Charlie by name, offering her no support etc. 3) to cap it all the Chairman then puts a Statement on the official site, that added nothing but included a snide, offensive comment about us loyal supporters who dared to speak up as being 'fragile, insincere supporters'...a slogan which will shortly be immortalised on a designer T-Shirt!
Lets hope Wednesday can clear the air, and we can move on and get back to talking about whether Adam should start or be on the bench...believe me I want to.

Re: Charlie - Good Luck and Thank You
Maybe I'll remind you you said that when you experience similar issues at work. You're misguided if you seriously think the club was on the verge of bankruptcy - playing budget would have been adapted and its unlikely we'd be still competing in the conference north. There's more to supporting a club than the amount if money at their disposal - I pity you that you fail to grasp that.nztownfan wrote:I feel i have missed alot over the past few weeks when i have been away!

However i think there is people on this message board who just love to stick the knife into the club at every single opportunity, baring in mind this is the happiest i have been as a fan in many years it really dissapoints me to see people on a message board claim that our chairman should leave and take our manager with them.... do we even know what the error was or if she didn't really resign? or instead is this going to be just an angry mob mentality
My other team has a chairman who spends nothing and subsequently we are sitting bottom of the league, is that what people really want?!? because i cant think of anyone who would take us over and spend as much money and i can tell you it is no fun to lose.

your other team was managed by an incompetent fascist not cut out for management. if your board did due diligence it would have realised this. You must be attracted to clubs with dodgy boards of management!nztownfan wrote:As i said i fear i have missed alot.paulstreet wrote:I don't think we are over-reacting nztownfan. Well obviously I wouldn't expect the press officer to be freely allowed to voice his opinion about what's gone on but it's telling you haven't been in this thread up until now. Also we haven't heard from Ged who's usually quick to step in and all we've had from Dan is some kind of Enid Blighton story.HTAFC Press Officer wrote:

Utter nonsense. I was firmly behind the chairman and manager until recent events.nztownfan wrote:

And can I just say I'm sick of hearing about Mr Chairman's money. It's not the be all and end all and we should not be held to ransom by it. At the end of the day it's not money that brings you success, it's expertise.
