End Of Season Review 2010/11 Empty End Of Season Review 2010/11

    End of Season finish 12th.
The season start and middle was rocky The Weaver out era. But by the end of the season Town got into gear and played like Champions with a great unbeaten run. In December if you offered me 12th everyone will have taken it.
This season has had it's ups and downs the Ups being the unbeaten run and the positive atmosphere among players and a great relationship among fans.
The downs were found mainly at the start of the season as we were involved in half a relegation battle (not in the zone but just above) for the majority and the poor attendances.

    Bloomin 'Eck !

I like the questions but also have to balance a day job ! Probably take me the close season to answer them all. Any chance of a league table for the second half of the season as a form guide.

My first resolution is to go to more away games next year.

More away games is a resolution for me next season aswell.

The questions aren't hard. Even though there may be quite a few possible answers for each of them!

    Season Questions

    What Were You Expecting?
Another Relegation battle, but weaver has proved me wrong and full credit to him for that.

What has been your highlight of the season?
Going on a ten game unbeaten run!!!!! Getting Chib Chilaka!!!!! and getting scooby back!!!!!!

What Would You Have Done Differently?
Nothing really, maybe played Wayne Phillips more at the start of the season Wink

What Was the Turning Point Of The Season?
Weaver sticking to a solid 11 and not switching tactics everygame ;)OH! and Chib Chilaka Very Happy

Who Was The Player Of The Season?
Gotta say the whole team was fantastic, but id have to give it to either Jake Picton or Graeme Armstrong.

Who was the best signing of the season?
Jake Picton, sured up our defence fantasticly towards the end of the season.

What was the best result of The Season?
2-2 vs Boston was a cracking game!!!! Shouldve won though Very Happy

Who was the Worst Player Of The Season?
hmmmm, dont really want to name anyone here, cant think of anyone that has been particulary bad.

Which was the worst result of the season?
    6-3 loss to Boston :S

What Would You Like To See Happen This Summer?
Try to keep hold of all our players from this season and maybe add a couple more quality players.

    Hopes for next season?
top 10 finish Smile maybe the play-offs! Very Happy

    1) I'd have settled for mid table. Was quite optimistic at the start...didn't last long!
2)Probably Wayne Phillips storming end to the season.
3)To be honest I would have changed the manager in the Autumn, but that now looks like Ancient History. Not kept Phillips (and Armstrong!) on the bench for so long.
4)See above: bringing Phillips back to play regularly and keeping a settled side.
5)Roma for his consistency, Armstrong for his goals.
6)If loan signings count: Chib (a Town legend after only playing a handful of games!) and Marshall. If going back to last Summer, Armstrong and Phillips (mind you last August I thought Dootson was the signing of the Summer!)
    7) Get back to you on that one.
8)Collapsing at home against Boston is one (although we actually scored some goals then and looked quite dangerous!), but it has to be that awful day in Halifax..can we PLEASE have a cup run next season Simon?
    9) not answering that: there were some disappointments, although I don't think ANY of the regulars had a bad season.
    10) Turned out to be Dootson I guess!
    11) Cup defeat to Halifax...still painful months later.
    12) Try and keep the core of the squad together. We need (as I have said before) another quality striker to partner Armstrong, a creative midfielder and (all due respect to Cook who has done really well), perhaps a Conference Premier quality keeper. Gardiner might have solved our right back problems. Hope thst Mr Fotherby is able to keep the prices reduced. Buy Claro Road from Crest Homes! I'm afraid other clubs are going to come sniffing after our best players, vital we hold on to them.

For Number 5 forgot Picton, a real find and congrats to Simon for spotting his potential.

    Season Questions

    What Were You Expecting?
Sorry but I was expecting a relgation battle

What has been your highlight of the season?
Chilakas hat-trick was special or the 11 game unbeaten run and the Draws with Telford and Alfreton were good too!

What Would You Have Done Differently?
Probaly chosen different teams in the first few games of the season!

What Was the Turning Point Of The Season?
Can't remember what match it was (Nuneaton I think) but when Phillips came on it lifted the team and they looked like a Conference Premier side

Who Was The Player Of The Season?
Phillps, Armstrong or Scooby without a doubt

Who was the best signing of the season?
    Scooby Or Chilaka or Picton

What was the best result of The Season?
either the Draws with Telford and Alfreton or Gloucester

Who was the Worst Player Of The Season?
No one was consistently bad really

Which was the worst result of the season?
    6-3 loss to Boston

What Would You Like To See Happen This Summer?
Keep the core of the squad and possibly strengthen in some areas but not too much or the Team wont be a team

    Hopes for next season?
New Stadium! and possibly a top ten finish with a good ol' battle for Play Offs. Oh and high attendances!
