Until the end of next season if you read the official club statement.

Harrogate Town are delighted to announce the signing of striker Lee Ellington. The former Farsley Celtic, Stalybridge Celtic and Gainsborough Trinity player has committed himself to the club until the end of the 2011 season. Due to a Football Conference technicality, Lee will not be available for selection until 27 March.

Chairman Bill Fotherby commented: "It is a fantastic boost for the Club and the fact that Lee has committed himself until the end of next season is tremendous. Lee is a player admired and wanted by many clubs and it is great news that Harrogate Town have secured his services."

I think he's been one of the best strikers consistently in this leageu over the past few years, but I think you've got to question where his motivations lye. After 'signing' for a club pushing for a playoff place, he left because of his ridiculous wage demands, and then comes to a club bottom of the league on a long term contract. Surely the tight budget we had at the start of the year is now out of the window as we try to get out of this mess.

I also heard earlier in the season that, if we are where we are now with not many games to go letft in the season, Fotherby would invest cash to buy a couple of quality signings... Lee Ellington is the first to come to my mind!

At least we have two players signed up for next year: Ellington and Adam. Who else would you keep from this current squad?
My choice: Maloney, Sturdy, Bloomer and James. Knox, Syers (a must), Stamer, Wood as a back-up defender. Dont know enough about Foster, Shepherd and Ratcliff to make decision yet. Main requirments: a creative midfielder and a specialist left wing back, and a third striker to support Knox and Ellington. Ive no complaints about Ratchford who has done pretty well.

BTW I posted this before it was announced on the "Official site" and in actual fact I was referring to the length of time he spent at other clubs!!!!

But if he has signed a contract to the end of next season then he will be with us till then, unless we get a moneytary offer for him. Its good planning for next year in the worst case scenario if we go down, as he'll score goals at both levels.

It is a good signing, but I do believe it is too little, too late.
