What can we expect this Saturday against Curzon?

Other than hoping for 3 pts, what are Curzon going to bring to the party and how should we setup and with whom! Feel we've got to go back to ball to feet, the pitch will not be a pudding so hopefully we can start at a blistering pace and the game will be done before my pasty gets cold!

It will be big boot down the middle from our two c/halfs if last saturday is anything to go by.

They are one of the few sides that actually give playing football a go and with a pitch that is not a bog, I'm sure they will on Saturday.

Some goals from our forwards. Please. Actually any goals for us.
Big, big weekend for us one that will see us cement our playoff place or be out of the playoffs, given the pack are closing in.

My maths is not great but I think that we will still be fourth if we lose, unless you get four points for a win now !!!

6 point bonanza tho with easter weekend upon us. Even teams like Chorley and Stockport could be right near us if thongs don't go to plan. Amazing really given our position a month ago.
The positive things is that we are not taking hammerings and over the goal drought we have been unlucky in a couple of matches. So if we turn the corner this weekend - our bad patch will not be too bad at all. That said we need goals and wins in the next two matches.

Agreed. 6 pt minimum return on the next 2 fixtures. Can only make the Curzon game so will be relying on the excellent Twitter feed for BPA game.

Curzon proving to be the strongest out of the 3 promoted sides & have a decent Manager @ the helm!
We failed to score against them in the Trophy game, all though to be fair we ended up with standing water on the pitch in the 2nd half & the game could easily have been abandoned!!!
Looks like they will be bringing the rain with them again!!!
This is the best position we have been in @ this stage of the season @ this level for a very long time!
It’s all about results now & to help with that we really need the “Town fans” to turn out in force for the remaining games!!!!
We’ve already help the side gain a few extra points so far this season!

I am not sure but I would say that this is the best EVER position we have been at this stage at this level.

4 points is a must, the pressure is probably starting to mount in the dressing room after this blip over the last few weeks. This is uncharted territory for both the team and supporters at the moment and there must be a few nerves going around.
The last thing the team needs is to come away from these two games with anything less than 3 points as this will really crank up the pressure with the chasing pack closing in.
On the flip side, 6 points and a few slip ups from the chasing pack would go along way to releaving some of the mounting pressure and put us in good stead for the important run in.

Can't see why we can't get 6 pts and tack another 3 on for next weekend as well. At the end of the day we want to be promoted so we need to start demonstrating that on the pitch. It's not the end of the world if we stay in this league, consolidate with some more signings and push on next season but I'd like to see us go out with a bang rather than limping in outside of the play offs.

Yes, but could we lift ourselves again? To finish 6th after such a good season I think.would be a real body blow psychologically. Losing in the play offs would be tough to take but not so damaging to the psyche!

Half time. All we had to do was settle down and play them off the park. Why make a tackle like that in the opposition half is anyone's guess but you can rip up the game plan and go in 1-0 down. Hoping for better!

Correct me if I'm wrong but other than the penalty did we have a shot on target or even off target! Not sure their keeper got his shorts dirty! Appreciate that we needed to readjust after going down to 10 but when they went down to 9 how were they still getting in our half and getting shots off when we are numerically superior and at home. I'm fearful of this run in as we can't just blame the ball not falling for us or needing a bit of luck.

after the tinkering of recent weeks it's turned as expected into a nightmare -the management seemed lost as to what to do against 10 and then 9 men - How long before they realise that Knowles cannot head the ball and shows no signs of reading Claytons headers - Burrell sent off by the pathetic ref only to even the numbers up -Poetic justice to see their number 6 sent off after getting away with his antics - Swain had a rare nightmare 2nd half and needs to play much better - did we have a shot on target? glad we don't play Curzon every week- Finally why are we still playing long high balls up front and playing no football

Not looking beyond our great position in the league and, thanks to some results going our way, not too bad of an impact but questionable team selections>
Daniels on the bench for Swain - mental. He only played a few mins midweek and he has not flown back from Australia. What Sawin has done this season to be starting games is beyond me.
Knowles starting - again mental. The guy is not up to it at this level. He offers nothing - why is Threwlis on the bench and he starts. Crazy. At least with Clayts you get a sense of battle despite the questionable golascoring record. His presence on the pitch actually limits Claytons play. Has Simon not realised they just do not work together! Its fecking obvious.
Daniels, Thirlwell and Threwlis have to start on Monday.
More worrying is the fact that we continue to pump the ball into the box - who has ok'd this change of tactic from the passing game earlier in the season. Just does not work - game after game now. Today we were lumping it up to Jordan in the second half - has no one got any sense on the pitch or touchline.
If it had not been for a pen we would not have scored again today and looked no more likely than the previous blanks. We looked like we could outplay any team in this division, now we look like the same teams as all those previous seasons. Things have to change and fast.

Garage, I agree by why give the ref the opportunity by putting in a tackle with both your feet off the ground in their half. All we needed to do was pass them to death for 80 mins and exploit the holes that would appear, I wanted Billy big-balls today and got Sammy suicide instead. He's only just back of suspension for a replica tackle. As for their goal, we looked like we were wading through treacle. Swain passed the ball into the stands more than his own players, Platt did his best to be fair but very little of substance from anyone else, not to sure about fozzie either. Best we just 'go again' and hope we can stay in playoffs with other teams dropping points. We looked really disjointed though, can't expect to go up with that carry on.

PS their fans might be considered nice by some but what a fecking ugly team they are. Agricultural w*nk stains. Teir number six was a tit, their goalie not much better. Had to check they weren't Strangeways XI. Awful team.

nothing towards you Surplus but please no one say "we go again" and #momentum.

Fecking just play.

Also agree with that analysis Carefree, the only caveat I can think of putting on that is maybe away teams have adapted their play which is forcing us back into our shells with this heading game. Ball and Socket may well be able to shed some light on this.

Yes that's fair Surplus - teams shutting up shop as we become a target in the divisio but then it all seems to coincide with our fixation now with going long. This has also seen the form of Jack, Joe and Brendon decline. I was thinking well maybe it is the pitch conditions but our form in midwinter was brilliant so cannot point too much at that. Maybe we just aint that good.

Carefree #wegoagain . Make a good t-shirt that. The only way we are going to stay in playoffs is for other teams to do us a favour. Curzon didn't offer anything but got a decent result for them a looked more dangerous at times. Got to ask why we only got a point out of it. As for momentum, I've seen more forward movement in roadkill. But we dust ourselves down and go aga.......

Ha ha - end of season souvenir t-shirts to mark our 7th place finish. Lets get em printed!
Yes for the second half we did not look like we had an extra player on the pitch. In fact the tactics looked like we were the ones with one less player. To be fair to them they put a shift in and niggled away at us.
#wegoagain......to Bratfud.

To answer Surplus' question. There were 3 shots on target - they had one and scored, we had two, one that was handled on the line and the ensuing penalty. That sort of game against an ugly but efficient side and someone disguised as and trying to look like a referee but failing abysmally.
On the brighter side, we started the game five points clear of fifth with a game in hand and we still are. All the teams vying for a play-off spot, Tamworth, Boston, Stockport and Chorley all lost. So we are in a better position than we were at 3.00 pm by a point.
Still a disappointing performance though, pity the deluge didn't come at 3.00pm and soften the hard bobbly pitch a bit which would have enabled us to play a bit more football.
