After the Christmas/New Year games do you think our position has:-
    a) Improved
    b) Got worse
    c) Stayed the same.

Not much changed. The win at Stockport was a huge bonus more or less cancelled out by Chorley which leaves us still a healthy 6 points or more clear of all the teams below us and enough games in hand to overtake Nuneaton and Boston.

To be honest you have to say that anything less than 6th place finish now would be extremely disappointing. We have a 6 point cushion and games in hand over teams below us. Is it 4 games in hand of Boston? Really a play off place is ours to lose now. Next 3 away games will tell us a lot. If only we scored more goals! Like Ferriby (the so and so's!!

Whilst the result against Chorley was very disappointing, we are still in great shape. With teams through out the league seemingly taking points off each other now ,i'm confident when injuries start to mount for playoff teams and they will ...you'll see more and more strange results.
With great cover in every position ,we more than most will be in the mix come April 30th.

Whilst most people would say we won't win the league but a play off position is very much on, I would say our chances have improved. This month of one home game and four away is pivotal.

I personally think that not much has changed, the win away at Stockport was a great 3 points but then as above has been stated it was canceled out by the loss against Chorley. With several games in the hand on a few teams ahead of us I'd say we have a massive opportunity to get the play-offs this season. For me the top 6 have broken away from the rest of the league and one of the top 6 will be very unlucky not to make play-offs at least(Please not us!). Shocked

I'm not writing us off from the league table as I've not seen a team impress me massively this season(Not missed a game yet). Solihull clearly have a great defense which was obvious at the away game. If we can beat them at home then I say we have a great chance of the league title! Very Happy

But seven of the top eight lost a game over the Xmas/New Year period, so we were not alone.

On paper it looks a straight fight between the top 6 teams. But over the last few seasons there's always one team that seems to come with a late rattle. My money is on Curzon Ashton. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

We are averaging two points per game away so 2 wins and a defeat from the next 3 aways will maintain the average. We need to improve the home performances and results. The home goal difference of zero (17-17) is poor for a top 6 side (cf North Ferriby 31-Cool.

Solihull are now ten points ahead of us after last night's game.

I guess winning the title was always going to be beyond us (unless Knowles had turmed out to be the hot shot goal scorer I guess we all thought we had signed), and I can't really see Fylde, Nuneaton and Solihull (don't they ever lose?!) not making the top 5. North Ferriby appear to be surprising everyone and banging the goals in for fun (wonder what that feels like!), Billy Heath really does seem to have the magic touch, I thought they might be a flash in the pan, but its starting to look like they mean business. Boston worry me. OK we have 4 games in hand (I think), but they also score a lot of goals (why couldn't Southwell do it for us?), and are a 'proper' club. I fear that lack of goals may ultimately doom us to 6th place (or maybe 7th if Curzon or Chorley make a charge). Next three away games massive, and I think that will leave us with 11 (or is it 10?) home games to go, which should be a huge advantage, but, in our case, probably not!

Although we are just past halfway I personally don't think that any of the above sides mentioned have enough to break into the top six. Maybe a side that you have not mentioned (Tamworth) are a possibility.
I would say it is between us and Boston for that last place. Boston have only 7 home games left and are indifferent away (0-3 at Lowestoft over Xmas) and have to come to the CNG. If we keep going the way we are it is still possible to break into the top three, should be interesting/exciting/nervous/compelling.
    Hold on.

Home form and Goals - two things we need to fix to get in the playoffs, let alone attract more folk down to Wetherby road.
I think one solves the other, a striker if not two (use some of the freed up Cecil money and get shot of the forwards we do have) and go large on the signings. We need it, we have the team and league position (for once) to merit it.
If we don't we can have all the home games in the world but it won't mean anything on our current home form. Had many repetitive phases of home games where we dominate and either fail to score or get one and then are pegged back and put under pressure and conceed. Have we can a couple of goals to the good at home this season and been able to relax and play the great football our squad is capable of?
