I very much doubt we would get Reeves even if we did throw money at him...Halifax tried at the start of this season and so did a couple of football league clubs.

And are you sure he is a free agent at the end of the year? Some Altrincham fans seem to think he signed a 2 year deal (there is a thread on their forum about the very subject because he has been linked with AFC Flyde).

I would hope that the club showed a bit more imagination than purchasing one of the most expensive strikers un non league football. I thought it was all about ensuring the club was sustainable?

Fair point but we have been down the untried and untested route with Strikers before which resulted in several sets of new hinges being needed on the revolving door at the CNG installed by Bill after Neil Aspin had left.

I don't think he would go to AFC Flyde but it looks like they are owned by a rich guy desperate to get his own back on Blackpool FC so put in a cheeky bid.

No reason why we couldn't sign the other guy but looking at his stats, he is a defensive midfielder, would we really need him and Bolder?

Nope I will stand by my calls for signing that quick guy at Stalybridge - He is just what we need (I should get his name)

Oh and check this out. Not sure any player with pedigree would go play for a Northern Premier team, maybe it is someone like Craig Short who started out at Scarborough FC and is about 40 now:

free at the end of the year.... also he is exactly what we need and i suspect whouldnt cost more then what we earned in fa cup money....

On that basis then we should attempt to sign frank lampard as his contract is also up at the end of the season. There's such a thing as managing the wage bill. All irrelevant though as there's little chance he'd sign for us and despite what you may think, his contract is not up for renewal. Still time to sign Walcott though - he's free too if that's the logic we're now applying.

there is a difference between somone at altringham and in our league and frank lampard.... it was never going to happen and it was only dream... also i dont thnik the FA Cup money whould cover mr lampard's wages for a week but whould cover mr reeves for at least a couple of seasons.... i think if the club think they can attract talent such as Chib and Bolder they might be able to get reeves (hypothetically of course)

Hello IB. How is the warm weather hockey training going? Can I ask who you are with and where you have gone? The thought of your group enjoying warm weather makes us look forward to the Summer months even more. Are you getting paid to do this horrendously taxing role? Away to Boston on Tuesday. Any predictions?

Yes, the club has to be sustainable, but lets look at the facts with Damien Reeves. In the 2011/12 season, he scored 44 goals, and already has 20 this season alone! Where else are we going to find a striker who can tally that in non-league football? He would be worth every penny, and it would be a bit more of a commute, but if we offered him to be the best paid player at the club, on a Semi-Pro contract. He would find it hard to turn down, because in the next 3/4 years, we will be a better and stronger team than Altrincham.

Hi Geoff. The warm weather training looks ideal. Lucky lads to get this opportunity although, I'm sure, they are pretty good at Hockey to go on the trip in the first place. A very good friend of my family is Barbara Hambly, nee Holden, who played many times for England and the GB Hockey teams. Barbara also captained both squads many times and went as captain of the GB team to the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She is God parent to one of our children. I was at Carnegie in the mid 70's and have taught in London and the South East as well as locally before my recent retirement.

Fabulous, I know Barbara distantly as I umpired national league and international hockey for 17 years and she was one of the leading officials in the game
