Farsley Celtic
Farsley Celtic have, today, come closer to going out of existence after the Administrators rejected a latest (and reported as final)council/consortium offer.
Their game with Telford tonight has now been cancelled.

Re: Farsley Celtic
Official statement from the Football conference:
The Football Conference has been advised in writing today (Tuesday 2nd March) by the Administrators overseeing the financial affairs of Farsley Celtic FC, that the club were unable to fulfil their fixture this evening away to AFC Telford in the Blue Square North.
As a consequence Farsley Celtic FC has been charged with a breach of Football Conference Rule 8.6 and have 7 days to respond to the charge.
The Football Conference has no further comment to make at this stage.
So, Farsley Celtic, Gloucester (if they cant find a groundshare), Chester City gone, and i'm sure there are a few other teams that are insecure also, so you never know, maybe the gods will spare us from relegation yet.

This shouldn't affect Tuesday's fixture, right?

Re: Farsley Celtic
I think it well might, as they have been unable to fulfil their last two fixtures and the Administrator is showing no signs of backing down or excepting offers.
i wouldn't be suprised if there is no football on Tuesday night.

Re: Farsley Celtic
Am I right in thinking that if Farsley are booted out, then all points against them are removed from the relevant clubs? Anyone know how this affects us? I mean we havent scored any points against them but some of the other clubs down with us might have.

We will still be at the bottom, I don't think it makes a big difference with the points gap to be honest!

Re: Farsley Celtic
maybe, although it would be bad news for Gloucester as they would lose 6 points by the look of it!

Re: Farsley Celtic
Gloucester would lose 6 points and Hyde would both lose 3 points, nobody else is affected as Farsley beat everybody else.

If the league do let Celtic continue after 3 charges for not fulfilling fixtures then Chester may have a right to appeal, which I cannot see happening, I think Farsley are going down at least league wise, good news for us and its about time we had some luck!!!!

Re: Farsley Celtic
Two teams relegated then presumably: gives us some hope at least. And if Gloucester are goint to lose 6 points that surely puts them right back into danger, and makes our two games against them very important. Mind you if we keepm playing such rubbish football it doesn't really matter because we are gonna keep losing anyway

We do need to start winning, but, this is in our favour so it....
Seems that Farsley have accepted the inevitable with this statement:

Sorry Paul. I made a mistake, Gloucester will only lose three points.

Re: Farsley Celtic
When you think about it, did Bill get it right after all? I do not want to see us relegated, but neither would I want to be a Farsley supporter, where the Club would appear to have spent money it simply didn't have. In the end, football clubs have to balance their books, like any other business. I bet Bill has put his hand in his pocket more than we know? Regarding Simon Weaver........was he not right that the team gave up in the second half? After the first few minutes, I thought we were on for 3 points! After the interval, it was a different game!
I'll still be cheering them on, no matter what!

If all players have been released by Farsley lets snap some up! Such as Dave Syers, Matty Young and Lee Ellington!

Re: Farsley Celtic
Seeing as in Weaver seems on a mission to change the squad again, assume we could be picking up a few of the players who have been left without a club. Dave Syers back?

Re: Farsley Celtic
Id like to see all 3 at the club, but doubt it, as they are all capable at playing at a higher level in my opinion. And I cant see them wanting to come due to our position in the table.

Our position does not matter as they would only be signed until the end of the season.

What makes you think they would only be signed until the end of the season? I'm sure if they are of a decent calibre, they would be signed for longer than 2-3 months. For example, HTFC have just signed Nowakowski on an 18 month contract, so why wouldnt they do the same with other players? What makes you so sure of this?

Because its not non league practice. At full time clubs you often sign people up for 2-3 years to protect your assests from other clubs, and secure their player. Non league differs as you are usually offered a 1 year deal, on sign on non contract terms, thats why so many transfers occur in the lower leagues, and the reason we've had about 60 players; its very easy to move around and make transfers.
Nowakowski has been given a longer term deal because of his recent impressive performances in his first year in semi-pro football, and his age showing we want to keep him on as he is the type of player that will be good in this or dare I say it the division below.
We would only sing people on short term to protect the interests of the club against long term financial loss, and also the player who if we did go down, could search for a higher placed club. Win win.
