target for next season
Personally would like to see the back of simon as soon as possible but I know some of you are prepared to givettheguy one last chance. What does one last chance mean to you then? Promotion? Top 5?

Top 5...but will need a convincing top 5 given the quality of the team.

If we target the goal that would be a start!

Re: target for next season
I'm gonna surprise everybody on here but if Simon can get us to finish higher than 9th with more points than last season then I think he can just about cling on. From the position we are in right now I just don't see a playoff spot as realistic.

Depends who we sign. If we go big guns it's got to be top 5 but as dk says from the squad as we can see it at the moment we're doing well top half in what will be a very tough league.

Top 16 finish and at least one pre-season draw will do me nicely (!!) .... and get through at least one round of the West Riding County Cup

Re: target for next season
The league is looking strong so I would be happy with finishing in the playoffs... but that's something we need to do with the money spent...
Simon needs to be held accountable if we have another poor performance... he wont be but he should!

After the Walshaw signing ... can I change my prediction? Top 15 finish and a nil nil v Railway in the John Smith cup?

Yes, with the signing of Walshaw (TownUltras pagan worship worked!), anything less than play offs surely (in any normal universe) would mark the end of Simon's job, but not here, alas.
Signing of Walshaw obviousl extremely exciting news, but lets just hope he doesn't suffer the fate of other big name strikers to join Town.

It could well be a factor behind another cup run ... in one off games in each round you need that hope/expectations that a winning goal is on .... if we can get three direct, shoot on sight goalscorers, we have less chance of coming unstuck against lower ranked oppo

Time will tell Paul but Danny Holland came as a prolific goalscorer and he was ok not had anything better since but hey what do i know?

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are now given the quality of our squad?

Re: target for next season
Well two more quality signings (we needed a 4th striker in case of injuries, loss of form etc,) and another Leeds youngster, I have a strange feeling that Irving really means business this year!
With the strength of the squad now (is there a better one in the Conference North?), then anything less than 5th would be frankly a failure. We SHOULD be genuine contenders for the outright title, play offs an absolute minimum.
Not sure where the current regime goes if we blow it this year...its now or never time in my view.
Hold on to your hats, its gonna be an interesting 10 months

Re: target for next season
we have to be looking at first with anything outside of the playoffs (and I would even say playoff final) being a failure with the strength of the squad.

So who is confident we will meet their pre season target. I would be happy just to stay up now.

I agree. Staying up should be the target, and also trying to provide a morsel of entertainment for the fans who've been starved of it pretty much since Alty away in March.

Think most of us would take a 15th place finish now!!

Re: target for next season
Just re-read my posts on here, makes me cringe! We are really in a relegation scrap now, BPA just 4 points behind, 3 games in hand, Leamington one point behind, 2 games in hand. It would take a minor miracle to get anything out of Saturday's game, so our position will only worsen.
Incredible when you read these early pre-season postings.

Re: target for next season
I don't think you could blame anyone for being optimistic at the start of the season with the players we've signed. Even the bookies made us second favourites to win the league. I don't think anyone truly appreciated how utterly incompetent the manager Muppet is, and how his Dad just sees this as a hobby to keep the boy wonder occupied and away from the real Weaver empire.
