Totally agree Carefree. Get in amongst them next few games. Could do with a bit of luck and keep everyone match fit with no injuries. Drama free run in securing 2nd spot and then get promoted. What could be easier! Does anyone know how close Bendan is to a suspension due to yellows under totting up rules?

So Carefree you acknowledge the contribution of a midfielder capable of playing a diagonal ball and a midfielder who has speed of thought to pass quickly? Yup it was key to how the whole team played, however Brendon did initially relieve the pressure.Unfortunately Burrell is now out for quite a while I do hope Platt can pick his game up a little from recent weeks. Personally I would bring Thirwell back into midfield.

I rate Thirlwell anyway, but I think he has been outstanding at the back. He keeps the shape, reads the game well, keeps the others calm and along with Ellis, talks to the team. He doesn't always pass long, but will do if needed. He can also last a full game as he is not having to run up and down the length of the pitch so much.

It may be Thirwell at the back has a calming influence on Platt in front of him...playing Thirwell anywhere encourages passing...will be interesting to watch.

According to the centre page details in the Stalybridge programme Brendan Daniels has had 8 bookings and Joe Colbeck 4. However, in the bad boys card count Brendan is shown as 7 (which maybe doesn't include the last one at BPA) and Joe as 5. Brendan obviously needs to be very careful from now on. Has Joe served a suspension for 5 or is 4 correct?

So the perverse pursuit of Platty as the root of Town’s woes continues. Never has one player dictated so much evidently. You must have missed much of the Stalybridge game where we were launching it from the back to no effect, lacked creativity out wide and are still, even after Tuesday, as blunt as a eunuch’s thrustings up front. And you know what, I am sure Joe, Brendon and Jack suddenly realised at half time on Tuesday, “Platt isn’t playing let’s have this”.

Despite Kerry’s great two balls in the first half of Tuesday his impact was minimal in terms of changing the teams general fortunes in that half and on Saturday. The key to the win in both matches against very average at best sides was Brendon. We grasped victory from another disappointing result on Saturday and his goal on Tuesday has been universally acknowledged as calming the team and enabling us to totally up the team’s performance.

Town of course wholly change their approach to match tactics and play, getting improved individual contributions from Jack/Joe etc and only having moments of great skill from Brendon when it is all down to whether a young lad is playing or not. I am sure Brendon was literally buzzing off that at half time at the sudden realisation on Tuesday that he thought he would ping the ball from distance in the 47th minute as a tribute to Platt being on the bench.

I think Daniels must have 8 now as he does not appear on the FA's "One caution away" list.
The cut-off date for 5 cards is 31 Dec but if you get 10 cards before the end of the season, you get a one match ban(unless you have already had a ban for 5 which means you would get two matches) so Joe should be OK.

It's more of a perverse pursuit of reading your comeback these days Carefree.

Lets see Platt get a good run of games. The whole team needs to maintain the current focus, we are in an excellent position, got the excitement of the playoffs looming and need to reflect on a generally positive end to the season. They'll be movement in the closed season I'm sure and the club have big decisions to make on and off the field in how they go about building and evolving to take it to the next level. What do we want to see as fans for next season?
