    Gloucester (Sunday) Empty Gloucester (Sunday)

Post by Innocent Bystander Sat Nov 01, 2014 9:21 pm

All being well, the ranks of the Town away supporters will be swollen on Sunday by a crowd of students from Eton who have adopted Town as their favourite non-league side. Looking forward to coming to the game at Whaddon Road.

A drive down to Gloucester is looking very appealing. Saying that, I would get shot by the ex if I go.

Managed to sort things out so looks like a car load of Town fans are heading to Gloucester on Sunday. I hope these Eton kids are good at football chanting IB.

Is it Etonians who wear straw boaters IB? If so perhaps they could wear them Sunday with yellow and black ribbons around the rim...make a great photo op!

In. Bringing a couple of mates, was a really good game last year, apart from losing 5-2. See you there.

Well not a bad result I would say a morale victory of sorts. Proves we can get results without our captain

That will teach me to me an optimist! Gloucester without a home win all season, until we come along! We are so kind. This and Saturday should have been more or less guaranteed 6 points. What price Hyde get their first away win Saturday?

No easy games in this league. Somebody on here said Brackley were woeful (no praise for the way we played). Stockport were a very good side last week and beat Brackley with a last minute goal on Saturday in front of 2,500 fans.
Gloucester are in a false position having only played 5 home games out of 14 (9 away) and conceding only 7 at home. How is this a guaranteed 3 points ?
Stalybridge are 2nd bottom - were they a poor side when we played them here ? No.
Get real - every point you get in this league is vital - Hyde next Saturday will be no different.

Adam and Lenighan are basically the same player. We have no ball playing midfielder. Needs to be sorted asap.

Gloucester started time wasting after 30 mins. A very frustrating day.

I think a few more signings before the next game should really settle the squad down build on that team spirit

Perhaps a new striker, midfielder, defender and keeper. We will be top by Christmas.

Well, I'm sorry Townfan, but if playing the bottom of the league, who have conceded 41 goals in 17 matches, doesn't count as an easy game (for a team who were joint pre-season favourites), then the term really is meaningless. League tables don't lie, I kind of think that Barrow and AFC Fylde, are, like, you know, just a bit better than Hyde. If we don't win by (at least) a 3 goal margin on Saturday, that will be a major disappointment.

Although to be honest, I'd be pitifully grateful for a 1-0 win with a 93rd minute own goal!

Barrow and Fylde are just a bit better than everyone.
League tables don't lie at the end of the season when everyone has played everyone twice. After just 16 games you haven't even played everyone once and might not have played any of the top 5/6 yet.
Hyde do look in trouble but have had a couple of useful results so far - 2-2 Tamworth, 3-3 Chorley and 5-1 Lowestoft.
I also will settle for 1-0 because it would be another 3 points.

Back to Gloucester to end with.
    16 Aug - North Ferriby 2-2 Gloucester
    7 Oct Gloucester 1-1 Solihull
    1 Nov Lowestoft 0-3 Gloucester

And finally can I point you in the direction of Saturday 30 Aug (a game I attended) Guiseley 1-4 Gloucester !!

As far as they are concerned, the table lies and they will be nowhere near the bottom come May.

The table lies for Simon too...he's the worst manager in the division.

    Ooh, a critic!

You see, in this league there are the have's and the have nots. We're the latter. We don't even have a ground!

We did well. It's been said that Harrogate spunk cash here there and everywhere. I won't claim that we're paupers, we're not. We have to spend wisely though. Maybe we're lucky that we don't have too many clubs around at this level so can get away with paying a little less. However, money doesn't buy you everything. Did you see Tom Webb? He scored. He's been with us since he was 16 in 2001. All the money that you pay couldn't buy what he put into the game.

We weren't pants. We didn't play total football but we ground out a result. We rode our luck and got a result.

Want to relive it? Here are some highlights.

By the way, does Gareth know you didn't win 1-0 yet?
