Leeds United Friendly Empty Leeds United Friendly

Post by Innocent Bystander Wed Jan 08, 2014 10:25 pm

Gutted not to be able to make it .... school term starts here near London tomorrow!
How did the trialists play? nathan Cartman?
Peter Crook - set fair to replace Craig?
1390 sounds like a good attendance on a foul evening weather-wise
Congrats to the ground curators for getting the game on!

Really enjoyable game and a great 3 - 1 win. It certainly didn't feel like a friendly and Dwayne Samuels limped off after 15 minutes.

The loan player Jahmal Smith looks very lively, 3 great goals all very different. A great breakaway finished by Nelly, fantastic free-kick from Sellars and another great finish from a good through all from another lad who I had never seen before. If Leeds were thinking they would get rid of their FA cup disaster with a comfortable workout tonight, then they are frankly an embarrassment to the Championship.

S: That was Nathan Cartman. Goal and assist. From Railway on trial played very well.

One of the great Town results. End of.

If you didn't go you missed out big time.

Still, it puts some much needed money in the coffers towards Simon's miniscule budget. Maybe he'll put it towards this mythical striker that's going to turn us into world beaters and him into Jose Mourinho.

Well worth going tonight despite the shoddy weather....Thought we looked good, solid at the back and that young lad Cartman should be signed.

Looking at some page, he appears to be a product of the Leeds youth set up.......I liked their number 7 and 10, would be great to get one on loan.

I'd like us to get Lewis Walters and Alex Cairns on loan.

Simon has also got to give Nathan Cartman a contract. Sign him up!!

    on Sky spots news
More from Leeds United now, and Brian McDermott has been talking about the future of Bristol City target Luke Varney, while Dominic Poleon and El-Hadji Diouf could also be heading for the Elland Road exit door.

heard that Poleon had a great game last night hmmm

Leeds United Friendly Empty Pitch the winner

Post by Baldie Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:57 pm

What a difference a year makes...... with a lot of work!!
Last season the Wetherby Road pitch was totally unplayable after rain but this year, it is unbelievable............ after all the recent rain and the continuous downpour on the night, the pitch did not cut up and the play was only affected by the increasing surface water. Confident it will be OK for Saturday's match.
Am still thinking I will wake up from a dream and talking of dreams..... what a fantastic goal from the free kick just outside the area. This was against a Championship side that organised its defence and had a great keeper but the curling shot was out of reach of everyone.
Wish we could play as consistently every match as we did for the full 90 minutes last night.
Still smiling..... and still drying out!!

Personally I would have preferred the 3 points against Telford but you really ought to cheer up DK - surely even you might find something positive in last night's performance if you look hard enough - and yes, it means nothing if we don't get 3 points on Saturday. affraid affraid affraid

My state of mind is fine thanks Ged, in fact it's been many a year since I enjoyed a football season as much as this one. I'm just trying to help keep people's feet on the ground which, joking aside, has been a real problem lately and I don't just mean on the terraces.  Wink

All I can suggest is that they make this a Pre-Season friendly every year.

If the weather was a lot nicer the other night, we'd have got 2000.

Great support considering the crappy weather and also the fact it was arranged at such short notice.

Agree with Neil that this should be a regular pre season friendly. With time to advertise, and nicer weather, I can't see any reason why the attendance would'nt be in excess if 2000.

If a regular fixture, how about occasionally playing at Elland Road? Would help the coffers in terms of attendance if even only a modicum of interest. (Only joking...I think) but it would be good to develop a sound and productive relationship with Leeds.
