The games keep coming, thankfully we have had a bit of a break since VMFC, whilst Telford were beating Henesford 5-3 to go top.

The league leaders come to the CNG this sat at 3pm. That's 2 days away! We have a psychological edge having beatent them 1 nil at Telford (Nelthorpe) Telford having been reduced to 10 in that match.

It's a big, big game. Town need to win it, for the confidence boost and also to get back to winning ways. Looking at the fix it's a big month:

No offence but you're doing it again TU. This is the match thread for Telford but you just can't help looking further ahead. What happened to one game at a time? It's like the prediction thread never happened!

Telford should still bring a few tomorrow…
Usually the signings made this time of year indicate which clubs our serious about promotion!!!!
And with the “Title Race” wide open still, there will be a number of clubs likely spending their £ in the next few weeks!!!!
Although like in the past this still won’t guarantee you promotion.
  
Once again though there are a number of clubs in the mix like us, whose ground facilities are going to need major investment @ the same time!!!
It’s a balancing act for clubs to spend their money on the team & their facilities so that further down the line you don’t put your club at risk!

The cost of 2 new stands & extra turnstiles @ the CNG WILL have an affect on our playing budget!
So you need to try & increase the clubs income streams during this period & be careful with your expenses so that when your ground has been redeveloped you still have a club to play there!!!!

Boosting your core support will need to become a priority over the next few seasons to compete with the number of ex league sides likely to be competing @ this level & the one above!

Let's hope the drainage system works again! it's this time of year the postponements start. Although the major threat will be frozen pitches as the pitch can hold rain but doesn't have underheating.

Reading the preview:

It looks like we will have to do this the hard well against the “Bucks” as we have no less than six players on the sideline due to injury. Joining Dominic Rowe and Leigh Franks on the physio’s table are Michael Woods, Adam Bolder, Ashley Worsfold and Brad Abbott (pictured). Fortunately, we have no suspensions to further deplete the squad!

This is not ideal.

So, projected line up for tomorrow, if these people are not available is as follows:

McGillivray - GK
Merris - LB
Killock - CB
Nowakowski - CB
Mallory - RB
Taylor - LW
Nelthorpe - CM
Brown - DMC
Sellars - CM
Hall - ST
Hardy - RW

I think Anton will have to sit in front of the back 4, Sellars and Nelthorpe in CM. Taylor and Hardy on the wings, and Chris Hall up front.

Not the ideal, but after hearing about those 6 not being available, it's a bit of a worry. And Telford will be wanting revenge.

This time last year this fixture would have had no chance of being on!
We haven’t had a home match postponed due to the weather yet this season.
 

I'm not too worried about tomorrow, I think we will dig deep, grab a goal and keep things tight with our new signing commanding everything in the air.

The last time we had so many players out we bounced back really well, we have Nelthorpe, Brown and Nowakowski to slot in there with the absence of Bolder and Woods and we know they can do a job on their day(especially as they are chomping on the bit to get regular football).........We got the guy in from Sheff U and Hall so I think we can do a job tomorrow...For me, i would rather it be a scrappy, horrible game as long as we take the 3 points.

The key will be as to whether the pitch is heavy....I think it will be fine, the new drainage system seems to be spot on.

Good to see the Telford manager has done his homework....I hope he is banking on the fact we have a huge slope and adjusts his tactics to accomodate it haha....oh little does he know!!

Big game, come on Town, up against it with injuries. Be interested to see the team.

Robbed.....just absolutely robbed. Should have been a similar result to N Ferriby. We dominated.

Made them looked very average, 3 one on ones spurned. Chance after chance after chance. They score with virtually their only shots on targets (apart from 2 Craig saves). Well played Town, made them look average we do need a 25-30 goal a season striker though. That sort of clinicalness is missing. Very unlucky today though. Lots of positives in Heath-looked good, and liked Mallory right side. We're not far off being an awesome team.

And just to rub it in. Results went against us today. Alty, Ferriby, Hednesford, Boston and BPA all won.

Today just underlines everything I've been saying really. Some of our best players missing, bit of a mish mash team put together, a couple of players who've only known each other 24 hours, top of the league come to Town and once again we prove we're as good as anyone in this division.

It's not at home that we have the problem 7 1 3 is as good as the top 6. It's 4 1 6 away from home that is hurting us:

5 out of 6 we've lost a goal to nil.

= Need for 25-30 goal striker

Town + 25-30 goal striker = automatic promotion

Actually 5 out of 6 we didn't score, 3 out of 6 were 1 nil. But you get the point. Or not if you are Town.

Well what did you expect they all have prolific goalscorers

Today just proved the point for me. A proven goalscorer would surely have put away the chances we created and we could have had 3 or 4 goals instead of having to settle for a point and even hang on at the end while Telford lofted high balls into our box.

I thought Heath did well for his first game and will hopefully be a good partnership with the ever reliable Killer.

Today every player did really well, it seems we have 2 teams..One big and physical and one that loves to play tippy tappy, but whatever team Weaver goes with we need to be more clinical in front of goal.......Seemed to have the balance right with 4-4-2 and I was really pleased with the performance....It is a funny old season, we make the big guns look shite and the weak teams look like championship winning sides, just can't get my head around it.

Think this will be the season of missed opportunity.

Oh and Heath looked great...One incident I was really pleased with in particular and showed his experience when Samuel was found wandering in the first half, ball played out to their winger on left hand side and as Heath went towards man/ball he made sure Samuel tucked in behind him to cover his hole.........Seems like he will be a great leader, and make sure the players are compact.

oh well, we only got a point and our play off place dream is hanging by a thread, but you have to be impressed with the performance Saturday. I thought every one did well, Heath very impressive (what happens when Franks is fit?), pleased to see Dwayne back, and (no disrespect to Hall who did OK), but MOTM was surely Mallory, by a country mile. Doesn't seem to have made an impact with the fans yet, but he is a very good player. If only Anton hadn't blazed his shot over the bar and if young Ajhmal (looked promising as well), had just been able to get the ball past the keeper at the end. As someone said: lots of 'if onlys'' this season.
Some of those away defeats are really coming back to haunt us now.
Still need that 'star' striker, by the way!
