Re: Coaches to Doncaster
I've been trying the office number every 20 minutes since 9.00a.m. just keep getting the answer machine.
I need to speak to someone rather than leave a message, and can't email from work.
Hope it's 'cos there are loads of people wanting to book a seat, like me!

Could be off as well! Town not having much luck with the weather. To be honest I won't be too disappointed, still think that South Yorkshire is to far to be re-arranging home games, albeit I accept the problems the club has had. Did they try Farsley/BPA/Halifax?

Did the club also try York?

Re: Coaches to Doncaster
Farsley and BPA are not graded or allowed by the Conference, York not available and Halifax have had more home matches cancelled than us only other shot is Bradford City but understand they are protective of their pitch which is understandable, also Guisley a possibility but assume that has been checked too

Re: Coaches to Doncaster
Er...BPA are IN the Conference, and surely Farsley (who spent a season in the main Conf.) must have a Grade B rating?

Re: Coaches to Doncaster
Bradford Park Avenue currently isn’t good enough to stay in our league without ground improvements never mind the play-offs!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
FC Halifax Town’s pitch is nearly as bad as ours!
York City’s ground wasn’t available on the dates required!
Guiseley are desperate for promotion after spending a few quid in recent years so there is no chance of us messing their pitch up!!!!!!!
Farsley Celtic?
Grading rules changed for play-offs & their ground hasn’t 500 seats!
Not sure whether that means you can’t play the odd home game there & still be eligible to compete in the play-offs?

Interesting comments Big L. I would have thought that as BPA are currently playing in the division, then matches can be played on their ground THIS season at least. But I assume that the Town will have started their search at the closest ground to us and worked outwards.Big Lundy wrote:Bradford Park Avenue currently isn’t good enough to stay in our league without ground improvements never mind the play-offs!

I'm not really sure about the ground grading systems - that's to say how it works in practice - to be honest. If BPA made the playoffs, would they be excluded from competing as their ground isn't of the required standard OR if they did win promotion would they only then be denied it due to the ground? And if they were denied promotion, who would go up in their place if anyone?
Concerning Halifax, anyone know what their problem is (I've meant to ask this before)? 9 matches played at home is more than us but less than others in the league although Altrincham and Workington for example have played "only" 10 at home. But Halifax haven't played many away either...less than us at least. I went to the Shay once with a Halifax supporting colleague and I didn't think it was too bad a ground. Mind you that was in 1991 or 2 I think.
Can't say I'm bothered too much by the postponement. I couldn't make it anyway even if it was at Wetherby Road. But it's yet another match crammed in to the schedule for the latter half of the season.
