BATTLE WITH HASTINGS Empty BATTLE WITH HASTINGS

Post by Ball and Socket Mon Nov 05, 2012 12:18 pm

The headlines have already started. In today's Daily Mail. page 70, there is a great article about the win at Torquay. "HARRO-GREAT". Good picture of Chib and that fantastic smile of his!! Collectors of memorabilia should buy a copy. Good story about the victory in the Non-League rag and in the football section of the Mail on Sunday. Hastings are pumped too so lets keep our feet firmly on the ground. In EVERY FA Cup game this season the result has been in the balance right to the death with the exception of West Auckland when we only got a stranglehold on the game till late in the second half. The Hastings game will probably go the same way because there is soooooo much at stake. BUT Simon has the team purring along nicely and Harrogate Town are now NOBODIES pushovers. We have a team packed with experience and the likes of Merris, White, Killock, Bolder, Allan and Elam will keep things calm. This is our club's BIGGEST EVER game and are we going to enjoy cheering our team on. Am I right or what!!!!!? COME ON TOWN. COME ON YOU SULPHURITES.

Spot on B&S, it is times like this when everyone gets carried away. It is an opportunity to progress to the 3rd round, and i'm sure Hastings fans look at it the same way, so lets keep it calm and not get into the kind of mentallity that some Hyde and Torquay fans did, in that all they had to do was turn up to win.
Spot on with naming those players who i am sure, like you say, will keep level headed and calm.
But theres nothing like a WRCC game to bring eveyone down to earth, so heres to tomorrow night in deepest darkest Ossett . . . onwards and upwards

I think we all need to remember that Hastings are at this stage for a reason and it isn't a massive fluke!

A ten minute video of Hastings V Stortford. Their defense looks fairly weak but their number 9 looks a handful, however it is snippets from one game.

Good evening all. Hastings fam here! First of all, many congratulations to you on getting to the second round. Its a truly amazing day for both clubs! Really looking forward to meeting you all and enjoying the occasion. I think that just like yourselves we will not take anything for granted. We have been the underdog three times already but have to take each game as it comes. Looks like we are bringing a fair few as well. We have a good bunch of supporters and are really looking forward to some banter and a nice get together in the bar afterwards, whatever the result!

Another Hastings fan here ( thats half our away support then !!! ) really looking forward to 1st Dec and hope the weather holds out, understand your pitch can be a bit tempremental and doesnt like too much water...lets hope for a few dry weeks.
you guys are certainly going well and hope you remain unbeaten until the 1st Dec at least!!!!
Should be a great day for both teams....hope there is no segregation as we are a friendly bunch and its great to move around the ground at half time.....hope to hear where the good pubs are in the vicinity as I know a few are coming up on Friday.

A big match for both clubs & although our ground is “fairly open” there should be a good atmosphere on the day!!!

How many tickets have you received?
We are still waiting for match information!!!!

Interesting film footage, looks like a Stortford video so focussed more on them. My feelings are that Hastings 'keeper looked a bit frozen to the spot on a few occassions, might be worth exploiting. Their first goal was from a corner (need to be alert!), their second a good shot (from number 9) that the Bishops keeper fumbled, and the rebound was put away. Like their claret jerseys by the way...very smart!

If we play like we did against Brackley then we'll run up a cricket score.

If we play like we did against Altrincham (and NO, we did NOT deserve anything from that game), Bradford Park Avenue or Oxford City (the single WORST game of football I think I've ever seen, including under 15's matches) then we're in for an upset.

It is by no means done and dusted. Hastings have a very good chance to beat us if we aren't on form and we should not underestimate the power of the cup (Hastings vs Man Utd?).

All we have to remember is the FA Cup matches at Liversedge and Railway where we started slowly and got stuffed bt sides several leagues below us. The team that starts must come out the blocks and ba all over the opposition like a rash. We must run them off their feet. Simon knows this is his BIGGEST ever match and losing is NOT AN OPTION!! Its also our, the regular supporters, biggest match and having our club in the hat for the FA Cup 3rd round will be some Christmas present. COME ON. TOWN .COME ON TOUT SULPHURITES.
