Relegation Run In Empty Relegation Run In

Post by ChrisM Wed Mar 28, 2012 11:39 am

Thought I would just post a thread to discuss our run in, and other teams who are involved/their results.

Bishops lost last night, which I think draws them into the relegation battle.

    15 Bishops Stort 35 12 7 16 57 64 -7 43
    16 Histon 35 10 12 13 55 59 -4 42
    17 Workington 36 12 6 18 47 55 -8 42
    18 Harrogate Town 35 12 6 17 48 63 -15 42
    19 Hinckley 35 11 7 17 64 75 -11 40
    20 Vauxhall Motors35 10 8 17 52 65 -13 38

Table as it stands, Workington having played 1 more game than the rest of us. How many points do we need? Is their anyone else playing worse than we have been right now?

Last 8 games only Histon out of those bottom clubs have been in as bad form, both sides with 10 points in 8 games.

It's not looking good is it? Sad

Also looking at our next 3 games we'd do well to get a point. Maybe two if we can scramble something away, but both clubs won't have given up yet.

It is pointless looking at tables. All we need to look at is that on recent form, and the upcoming fixtures, we are down.

Vauxhall Motors v Blyth Spartans : Draw please

Weekend didn't go well did it Sad We need at least a point over the next two games, though Boston/Droylesden are very hard away days, even if we were at our best!

Vauxhall play Hinckley tomorrow: what is the best result for us? Personally I think the Motormen winning would be better than a draw, and lets fight it out with Hinckley for 19th place.

Agree. Motors are on a good run. Hinckley sold their star player.

The AGM cup might save us even if we finish 3rd from bottom!

    15 Workington 37 12 7 18 48 56 -8 43
    16 Bishops St 36 12 7 17 57 69 -12 43
    17 Histon 36 10 12 14 55 63 -8 42
    18 Harrogate Town 36 12 6 18 48 65 -17 42
    19 Hinckley 36 11 8 17 65 76 -11 41
    20 Vauxhall Mts 36 11 8 17 54 66 -12 41

    As it stands:

    Tues night games:

Blyth Spartans v Solihull Moors (Result doesn't matter)
Droylsden v Harrogate Town (a Draw at best)
    Guiseley v Gloucester n/a
Stalybridge v Bishop's Stortford (Staly win would be lovely)
Vauxhall Motors v Hinckley Utd (Can see motors winning this)

Looking at form only Bishops have been as bad as us, we are really out of form. Its gonna take a lot for us to get out now.

I've already consigned myself to relegation. I've said all along we will suffer with Weaver in charge. My point is being proved.

Despite losing ground at present, this potential point could be vital....

I'm assuming that no-one from Harrogate went?

From the report on the Droylsden website, it looks like a draw was the right result. Be interesting to read the Club's report.

Big Lundy gone very quiet recently! Were yu there Big L? Not bad to get a point against Droylsden (our bogey team), but another defeat would have been grim. Still tough: Hinckley won, Bishops won. Its probably gonna go to the wire: tough (and long) trip to Corby on the last day. Worrying that Blyth have started winning: too late to save them ,but we have to play them! Notice that Beezley played...is Chib injured?

As it stands, we are in 18th, 2 points off the relegation places. Our next fixtures are as follows:

Sat 7 Apr : Boston United (A). Not a chance, Boston Win
Mon 9 Apr : Blyth Spartans (H) Possible 3 points, but it is 2 games in 3 days, and Blyth have started winning. I think this will be a draw.
Sat 14 Apr : Colwyn Bay (A). Colwyn Bay win. They will be wanting revenge from Wetherby Road.
Sat 21 Apr : Solihull Moors (H). I fancy Town to win this one, last home game of the season.
Sat 28 Apr : Corby Town (A). Not a chance. Corby Win.

I've had a look at the other teams' fixtures, and Town have one of the toughest Run-ins. Blyth and Eastwood are down anyway. And there is Histon, Workington, and Vauxhall in the mix for the 3rd relegation spot.

I honestly think we will pick up 4 points from the remaining 5 games, and that it will be a last day shoot-out with Vauxhall. Think Histon and Workington have too much in the tank and will pull away in the next few games.

I've had a look at Vauxhall's run-in, and it is as follows:

Sat 07 Apr Solihull Moors v Vauxhall Motors 15:00
Mon 09 Apr Vauxhall Motors v Stalybridge Celtic 15:00
Sat 14 Apr Bishops Stortford v Vauxhall Motors 15:00
Sat 21 Apr Vauxhall Motors v Corby Town FC 15:00
Sat 28 Apr Droylsden v Vauxhall Motors 15:00

Thats another tough run-in also, it is going to be touch and go.....

That is tough for Vauxhall, they might only get 3 points from that lot. Gives me a bit more hope Smile

Well that went better than expected! Well done to the lads for keeping the faith and turning it round, truth is we should never had been down there in the first place! Still need a win vs blyth. Its such an odd league table so close at both ends!

    12 Colwyn Bay 38 14 6 18 47 62 -15 48
    13 Solihull Moors 38 13 8 17 42 48 -6 47
    14 Hinckley 38 13 8 17 70 79 -9 47
    15 Corby 38 and13 7 18 57 60 -3 46
    16 Bishops Stortford 38 13 7 18 60 74 -14 46
    17 Harrogate Town 38 13 7 18 51 66 -15 46
    18 Workington 38 12 8 18 49 57 -8 44
    19 Vauxhall Motors 38 12 8 18 58 70 -12 44
    20 Histon 37 10 12 15 57 66 -9 42

Wow. Histon need to win their game in hand. I've got no idea who will go down! Want Workington myself after their behavior at the CNG!

Bay, Bishops, Corby, Histon, Worcester, Moors are all in worse form than us!

I don't know what to think now, its great to see Harrogate winning and giving themselves a chance of staying up. But the other half of me is saying that if we do stay up it means that Weaver will be in charge again next season with a bag full of excuses again!
Going down may just be enough for Irvine to think twice about his son being in charge of this football team and maybe get someone in for a fresh new challenge.
Its typical of the club at the moment there is absolutely nothing on the web site or from the club about rallying around the fans to get behind their team for the final push,if you followed the web site you wouldn't even know we were in a relegation battle! Weaver junior hasn't posted on the site for weeks now! Get behind the team, rally the fans, put on a bus for cheap away travel for extra support, give away free tickets for loyal fans, do something!!!!!

    Enough said!!!

If you look at the predictor thingy that ChrisM posted on another thread which is HERE You can see that while "it" doesn't expect us to get anything from Corby, "it" doesn't expect Hinkley to get anything from Stalybridge either. So it's them predicted to go down. Stalybridge do after all need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive so they should be going for it, Corby don't really have anything to play for.

However, it ain't a good situation to be in, waiting for someone else to be more sh*t than us so I hope the lads do us proud on Saturday (I can't be there as I'll be over the Atlantic somewhere).

    But there is still hope.
