Anyone else heard of this guy who has scored 42 (!) goals in 22 games for AFC Emley? Including, I think, at least three hat tricks. I hope our chief scout Mr Barraclough is on the case! OK, several leagues below us, but I'd have thought worth thinking seriously about. He is bound to be snapped up by someone, it might as well be us!!

Re: Ashley Flynn...worth a punt?
He currently has a driving ban, and that stopped Worksop Town signing him, but he lives in Huddersfield so that should not be a deal breaker.

May well be worth a punt, at least cover or second team to assess the lad.

Re: Ashley Flynn...worth a punt?
Very little to lose I would have thought. It may be he won't be able to step up to our level, but maybe he will! 42 goals in 23 games is pretty exceptional. Sign him on non contract terms till the end of the season. Lots of other clubs must have noticed his goal scoring prowess and will be thinking about signing him I imagine. Our three main strikers (Knowles, Clayton, Thewlis) are all good players but not prolific goal scorers. Daniels' goals have been a life saver so far. I just think a bit of (potential) extra ammunition might come in handy. Any thoughts?

Re: Ashley Flynn...worth a punt?
I would not be too keen to disrupt the team by bringing in new players however I can understand your thoughts.
I don't share the same gloomy thoughs that if Daniels does leave us, which I personally think he will, we will start slipping down the league. Yes he scores goals but you watch his all round play, I don't think he adds too much more.

I agree with this, but the worry is if Daniels does go, who will get the goals?

Re: Ashley Flynn...worth a punt?
Flynn has been watched by the club. He's not upto the standard. Although he scores goals at ncel div 1 level ( quite consistantly too ) he failed to step up to Evo stik level with ossett last season. The chief scout is out and about trying to bring the best players in. Especially younger lower league gems. Unfortunately Flynn doesn't fit into the plans. Emley also have another decent player jerome , however the jump to conference north too is a bridge too far.
Hope this helps.

Understandable concern Paul but bear in mind Gazza is close to full match fitness and if he picks up where he left off I believe he could make a valuable contribution. Will probably take 4-5 games to achieve full match fitness but he is apparently on fire in training - could be an interesting bench on Tuesday

Re: Ashley Flynn...worth a punt?
If you believe what he is reported as saying then he is not going anywhere. Maybe he accepts that he is not good enough to play at a significantly higher level.

Re: Ashley Flynn...worth a punt?
Shame too but the reality is he's scoring goals at div 1 ncel. The jump to conf north is huge. He failed at Evo stik. Fair play to the lad , he's enjoying his football and scoring goals.
