Yesterday morning at 7.10am a good friend of mine Alan Cartwright was in a collision with a car near St Aidan's School. Alan suffered severe head injuries and had surgery yesterday at Leeds General Hospital to remove a blood clot from his brain. He has been in Intensive Care since tea time yesterday. He is sedated and supported by a ventilator. His family and friends will not know the full extent of Alan's injuries until he slowly comes round in a few days.
Alan has joined me down at Wetherby Road for the odd game and is a kind, considerate man with two teenage children and Marie his lovely wife. He is a Psychiatric Nurse and was due to retire in a year or so. He is captain of our snooker team at High Harrogate WMC on Skipton Road. Out of respect for Alan and his family we cancelled our league match at Knaresborough Conservative Club last night.
Please, please, please, remember Alan and his lovely family in your prayers and remember that tomorrow's match is ultmately only a game of football.
