Bradford City Go For Craig
Ignore the twitter remarks from Town trying to quash rumours but Bradford City will do a deal within the next 10 days to take Craig MacGillivray to Valley Parade.

Well at least it will involve a fee....He could of gone last season and we wouldn't have received a dime!

I'm afraid that will only be of any consolation to us if the fee is disclosed and the money is reinvested in the team.trevdee wrote:Well at least it will involve a fee....He could of gone last season and we wouldn't have received a dime!

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
It's a bad move for him at the moment. He could probably demand the same wage at Town for part time as Bradford will pay him full time. He is a 20 year old non-league keeper with no league experience? He will be only warming the bench as well as McLaughlin is the number 1 choice.
He has a tough decision to make.

If he's got any ambition, he'll be off.
The communications coming out of the club lately are just bizarre. The drinks have clearly been flowing at Wetherby Road this Christmas.

I know very little about Peter Crook however from what I have heard, peoples opinions are that he is a decent replacement for Craig.
He is a top class keeper and it is only a matter of time before I league club take a punt on him.
Really hope that any fee received is re-invested in to the squad.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
When I look at Joe Hart and John Ruddy playing for England and some of the back up keepers in the premier league I have absolutely no doubt that Craig could play at the highest level one day if all goes well for him.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
We have seen this season and last that Craig is up there with the top guys for shot stopping...Once he gets with a full time GK coach and works on his cross catching, speed of distribution and a couple of other tiny things he will rise up the leagues, I doubt premier league, but the paddy kenny does ok.
I wouldn't blame him for sitting in the reserves for a little while because If I was him I would be waiting for that one chance and would play a stormer when it came....very talented lad...maybe we could get our old keeper back, im sure he is playing in a lower league now.

He left Blyth at the end of last season. Is he not at Whitby?

He came back from Peru, don't know where he is now. By the way (to change the subject), have you seen that Graeme Armstrong is scoring regularly for Whitby and they are near the play off places in the Evo-Stik Prem. We could do worse...

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
Apparently, the club have now come out and denied that no one has approached them about MacGillvray. It's strange how Sky Sports got wind of it though and trusted it enough to put it on their transfer feed.

I should rephrase that and say they have denied that an approach has been made for McGillivray.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
Clearly Sky got their info from Bradford and it may well be true that they haven't actually approached Town yet but the club should probably brace themselves.
Interesting that there is a big piece in today's Advertiser about how brilliant Peter Crook is and feels the need to mention his dual registration in the first paragraph.
It could be just a coincidence I suppose...if you believe in them.

Look. It's simple to me. By the end of the window. Craig will be gone. I'd be surprised if he was still at town come the end of the transfer window.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
Sickens me reading that. He's easily worth at least double. I can't understand why there isn't seemingly a queue of clubs willing to get into a bidding war. They may scoff over there but there's at least one club in the premier league title race who if their first choice keeper got injured I'd be a far happier man seeing Craig come running off the bench than the current incumbent.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
The problem is, he is out of Contract at the end of the season, and we would get next to nothing in compensation.
The only way out of this would be to tie him to a new contract, with a minimum release fee included.
He is only 20 years old and there will be plenty of time for his big move, I think he could do so much better than Bradford. I see some Goalkeepers in the Championship, and Craig is better and he is only Semi-Pro at this moment. I'm just hoping that he feels his development would be more beneficial getting first team football here.
Its a big decision for Craig and Irving.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
I'm not so sure about that. It's young in goalkeeping terms but most professionals have been identified by 20/21. He needs to get into the professional game sooner rather than later. But I agree he could do so much better than Bradford. I agree he could play in the championship and I've absolutely no doubts he could be on the roster at a number of Premier League clubs.TheNeil29 wrote:

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
But on that note, I look at the likes of Brad Friedel, Mark Schwarzer, Marcus Hahnemann. All in 40s, still doing the business at the highest level.
He will get the big move, but I do think he would be best served by being here a little bit longer as a first choice Goalkeeper.

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
Since we all seem to agree that he will go, isn't it important that the club attempts to maximise the fee we get for him? Its not often non-league clubs like us have a potential 'star' on their books, and we need (putting it crudely) to cash in. I see that Kidderminster sold a striker for £600,000 last week

Re: Bradford City Go For Craig
Agre with neil, plenty of time for Craig - quite simply the best keeper I've seen operating at our level. Bradford can joke all they like but the reality is he's too good for them. Plenty of examples of quality keepers who've taken a few years to establish themselves. Must admit though, don't think the comments by Gary plant helped - we all know how good craig is but the reference to edging out joe hart was premature and unnecessary at this stage of his development.
