If that doesn't put a few hundred extra on the gate then nothing will...

Re: Brackley Town
Even though we lost last week and had the shambolic performance on Tuesday, I am still really excited for today's game. Hope others feel the same and there will be a decent crowd.
Is Craig banned for today or will it be next week?

Re: Brackley Town
I think he will play today, then be banned for 3 games. It was a straight red, so I can't see any less of a ban. Hopefully Peter Crook can make the step up.

Too right. Win today and we're right back in the hunt!JordanF wrote:Even though we lost last week and had the shambolic performance on Tuesday, I am still really excited for today's game. Hope others feel the same and there will be a decent crowd.
3 games for a professional foul? That's ridiculous. I thought it was only 3 for violent conduct.TheNeil29 wrote:I think he will play today, then be banned for 3 games. It was a straight red, so I can't see any less of a ban. Hopefully Peter Crook can make the step up.

1 match ban
But likely to miss F.A. Cup match @ Colwyn Bay!
7 subs for F.A. Cup so we might have to bring 2 keepers in for that one!!!!!!

Re: Brackley Town
Sorry to correct you Big Lundy, but you are wrong.
Craig's ban will start on the first of October and is for one match only, unless further sending off occurs today (if picked).
Craig will be eligible to play against Colwyn in the FA Cup.
Kind regards,
Peter

That is good news, but he needs to turn in some impressive performances to get me back on side

Nope. I think we need to get Woods and Bolder off the bench here.
Where's Chris Hall?

Re: Brackley Town
I went shopping for a new kitchen and bathroom today. Seems like I'm missing a decent game. But what the f**k are Woods and Bolder doing, starting on the bench. It's a joke. They should be the first 2 names on the teamsheet!!!
If I win the lottery/euromillions, I'm buying Stockport County and taking those two off Weaver!

Brackley are down to 10 men and we still can't score??
Weaver needs to sort his tactics/Team choices out ASAP

First home game in a long long time that I have missed, quite glad I did!!
Funny, how Weaver is a stubborn bugger and it backfires again!

Re: Brackley Town
Well that was even worse than the Histon game. Honestly, if Brackley are one of the division's best teams then I'm dusting my boots off. We should be taking teams like them and Histon to the bloody cleaners. There was just no spark there. After they scored my overall feeling was that the only way things would turn around would be if we used all our subs and they changed the game or there was a divine intervention and to be honest when we reduced them to 10 men I thought that was the miracle we needed. Sadly our ineptness continued until the changes were made and it was too late. After today even I would accept that if we don't turn a corner quick sharp things are going to get quite messy.

Re: Brackley Town
Yes he chucked Bolder on first, then Woods and finally Rowe. It really upped the tempo but it was too late. Needed to get Woods and Bolder on as soon as Brackley went down to 10 men.

Re: Brackley Town
My view is that we are very poor in the final third. Our crosses were almost universally bad - generally over-hit and often so high that it gave Brackley time to organise their defence while the ball came down. Set piece corners likewise.
Still there is no-one prepared to follow the ball in to pick up a lose clearance. Brackey were not that good (their fans said so) and there were lots of poor clearances. They had a purple patch at the start of the second half when they scored. Apart from that we were generally on top but unable to convert possession into a perishing goal!
What would have happened if Liam had got that goal. How unlucky can you be to hit both posts with the goalkeeper stranded? He hit the bar too later on.
Nelthorpe was much more effective than Taylor on the other wing - it's noticeable that we tended to build more on our left than the right. Still though the crosses were poor.
We were better with Boulder on - but I think that was more due to the fresh legs than anything else. The introduction of Woods and Rowe made no appreciable difference. Alan White returned and managed to upset the referee more than once. I'm surprised he didn't get carded. Brown had a good game and didn't deserve the card he got.
And we badly need some shooting practice. There was too much tippy tappy stuff in shooting positions.
EDIT - Anyone see what happened in the Technical areas in the second half? Why did the ref and the Wetherby Road linesman run over there?

There was an altercation between their manager and John McDermott.Dan_Gleebitz wrote:

As I was saying in the Stalybridge thread, the opposition dugouts have been occupied by some serious dickheads this season. Today was no different. In fact they were one of the worst. Constantly gobbing off at the referee and officials. No class. My guess is Simon and John had finally had enough of it, I know I had.

Had a chat with their Supporters Club Chairman after the match. Really nice person.
Didn't think the ref was too bad though - I've seen worse (and better).

Did he ask Simon why he never selects his best players, and if he does, why he plays them out of their best position?

Or how can it go sooooo wrong with such a large budget 2/3 years on the trot?
