They reckon it could have been 5 - 5 ! Can't wait for the full piece when it is written up.

Yes they had chances and Craig was excellent, but we had several other great chances as well as the 5 we put away. When you've been spanked like they were sometimes some credit has to be given to the opposition.

Good team selection today although surprised to see Samuels not starting. We had pace and power and the Franks throw is one he'll of a weapon.

Well it's funny how teams and players view things sometimes. I heard one of our subs today, who shall remain nameless, telling one of their subs that we should have been 3 or 4 up and game over/out of sight at half time on Tuesday night. Worrying that anyone in the dressing room might have had that opinion given that we were ok at best.

As for today, when we took the lead it was certainly against the run of play. Can't really argue with Craig getting MOTM. Obviously to claim 5-5 is a massive exaggeration but 5-0 definitely doesn't tell the whole story, no matter how enjoyable it was. I'm not going to pick holes though. Really important to win after Tuesday and we won very well. Feels like we're really off and running now. 7 points from 9, knowing that there's room for improvement is a great place to be and is an impressive start. Let's hope we can keep our feet on the ground and use this as a springboard.

    cheers

Cracking result for you today, to be honest I never expected that, after that I think other teams will now realise Town mean business this season. Well Done.

    A couple of observations:

Ferriby supporters / Directors were as friendly a bunch as I have welcomed at the CNG. Not big time at all and arrived early / stayed late in the 1919 venue.

Dick Turpin would have been proud of us - Craig was back to his imperious best or we might have been 2-0 down after 10 minutes.

Chris Hall goal - had it been against us I would have been berating the linesman for offside

    After that we get positive:bball:

Dom Rowe - joy to watch!
Tommy Wright - great goal and great attitude
    Centre backs - outstanding
Mr Merris vs old pal Nathan Peat - only one winner in that contest:bball:
    Chris Hall - non stop
Management team - positive team selection - well done
Overall finishing in front of goal - top notch
Michael Woods Radio York commentary on Radio York - Stan Collymoreesque:D

...... and last but not least, the second coming!!!!

Fans in the Wetherby Road stand started singing in the 2nd half - twas just like listening to the 3 Tenors in Verona on a balmy summers evening:affraid: Now we really are making progress!!!

Let's enjoy without getting too carried away and hope we can just build on this and get a few more down for the Stockport County Game.

Finally strong rumour that chips may be returning next week for a one off appearance - will keep everyone informed when the appearance is confirmed!

ps. and Michael Woods back from suspension ........uuummmm!!! Where is TS when you need him?affraid

Have to pick out Craig yesterday, absolute brick wall in net throughout the game. Probably my MOTM.

Simon got the tactics spot on. Craig maintained a high level of performance throughout and with a keeper of his ability behind the team they just grew in confidence as the game went on and we battered North Ferriby in the end into submission. Make no bones about it, North Ferriby have not been used to being in this position for a while. They ran away with their league last season and scored a barrowload. Only Hednesford gave them a run for their money. Can't wait for Stockport and their hoards next Saturday!! The team have set such a high standard now let's hope they can maintain it. By the way Ged Anton's flick from Frank's long throw was anticipated brilliantly by Hall who came from an onside position to beat their keeper. NO OFFSIDE. The final score couild have been 9-3!! Fantastic advert for the standard of football played in our league. Had a wee chat with the ref after the game to thank him and his assistants for controlling the game so well. No cautions at all in a full blooded exchange between two hardworking committed sides. More of the same please.

Agree about the ref - cool, clear decision making, good body language at key moments - obviously on the way up .... same as Town!

Blimey - the refs will have gone home confused - I congratulated them as well - thought they controlled a physical game exceptionally well.Shocked

First chance to post since Saturday's amazing match...one of the best days I can recall at Wetherby Road in all my years of going there. Beating an average team 5 - 0 is one thing, beating a good team (and they are) 5 - 0 is something else again. Of course I have mixed feelings this morning, apparently we were terrible last night, how could that happen? Simon was 'livid' and threatening big changes for Saturday.

Lets not go into panic mode just yet, football is a funny game (as they say). Ferriby got 3 last night, 2 to Jarman. But it does make Saturday even more important. This is one we HAVE to win if all the grand talk about promotion etc. is to mean anything. And, as Rob Young said lat night, successful teams in this league are [u]consistent[u], look at Guiseley last season. We cannot go on putting in bad performances after good ones, recipe for mid table.

Incidentally, a bit unfair to criticise Ferriby for their spending...isn't that what we are doing??

just got back from Leeds festival, This game seems exactly like the Brackley game last year... league leaders come to the CNG and get thrashed.
