After Liam Hardy was injured a few weeks back John McDermott promised a new striker, was wondering if anyone knew how close we were to this happening?

We certainly need another striker to competete with/help out Ellington and Armstrong. As others have said probably not easy to find a good one at this time of the season. Surprised that Maloney has not been brought back from Railway, he has scored a few for them.

No problem with Maloney coming back although if you remember although he started off as a striker last year he ended up playing in defence where he started his career before going to the States. Don't think he ever looked prolific up front really at this level but would welcome his back as a squad player.

Taken from the Advertiser:
Not had chance to look into this further, but it does seem like we are getting a new striker after all?
With Liam Hardy on the long term injury list Weaver has been down to the bare bones in that department in recent weeks.
The Wetherby Road boss still has options to bring back Jon Maloney and Danny Wright from Harrogate Railway and Knaresborough Town respectively.
But he's hopeful he can fill the void left by Hardy's absence by signing former Grimsby Town striker Danny North before tomorrow's contest.
The former Blundell Park man has been plying his trade at League of Ireland Premier Division outfit St Patrick's Athletic. Weaver is awaiting international clearance before he can bring the 23-year-old on board.
"He's built for pace," he said.
"We tried to get him in for the Blyth game. Danny is one of John McDermott's contacts. Hopefully we can bring him in for a couple of months and he can do a job for us."

Mixed feelings from Grimsby fans:

seems to shine on occasions, but has been prone to weight problems and fitness has suffered in the past.
For this level however, he could well be a revelation.
