TOWN on TOUR! Stockport County Empty Re: TOWN on TOUR! Stockport County

    Post by djm68 Thu Aug 10, 2017 10:07 am

Hopefully, a number of you will be coming down to Stockport for Saturday’s game. I am part of a Co-operative that just over 12 months ago purchased "Ye Olde Vic" pub in Edgeley, Stockport to stop it being demolished.

Our normal Saturday hours are 5:00pm -11:00pm, but we open at 12:30pm when County are at home. We are particularly welcoming to away fans. We would like to extend a similar invitation to Harrogate Town fans.

We hope to have six real ales on. We do operate a no swearing policy, which might appear a little draconian, but we find it ensures the pub remains a 'safe haven' for all and it is generally appreciated. We do not do food, so line your stomachs beforehand!

The pub is located at the corner of Chatham St and King St West (SK3 9ED) and less than 10 minutes’ walk from Edgeley Park. It is only a matter of yards from the Edgeley Approach to Stockport Station.

We look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday.

Any queries, please contact Dave Miller via 07599472598or [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

P.S. Nephew lives in Harrogate and has been to a few of your games, including a previous one at Stockport. I went also to an early season game a couple of years ago. Loved the ground and the walk across The Strays, but the game against Tamworth was nil-nil and dire!

P.P.S. I see Josh Falkingham is with you. Ex-Leeds. Possibly not the greatest recommendation, but I saw him playing for Dunfermline against Airdrie and he was comfortably the best player on the pitch. Surely, he will do a decent job for you?

That in the end was very disappointing after cruising into a 2 goal leed. Really missed Thewlis up front. Knowles looks sluggish and never shoots. Two cracking goals from Ainge the first a 1st time volley and the 2nd a trademark header from a deep cross. Thought keeper maybe should have held the ball for their equaliser which came loose. Probably the 1st time our defence has been tested fully so far and it creaked a bit. Need to tighten up for a very hard game at home Tuesday.

Thewlis pace up front a key part in how we are set up to play!
He forces the oppositions defence to drop deeper allowing our midfield players to get into more attacking positions!!!

What a game of 2 halves that was. Town were excellent throughout the team 1st half. Some fantastic passing and movement, and Ainge outstanding up front. His 1st goal was in the 'WOW" bracket. If on MOTD, that would surely be a contender for goal of the season already. 2nd half was unbeleivable, how could we dip so badly after a sublime 1st half. It certainly was backs against the wall, I don't know what Gannon must of said to his team, but he certainly got his reaction. We hung on by the skin of our teeth, but on the positive side, showed another part to our game in that we can also scrap too. Just one thing, anyone heard why Theeliss wasn't playing? Was a big miss. Dom did ok, but looked well off the pace at times.

Saturday's game shows how we need to be at full strength  to compete with the big boys in the league. We had Thewlis missing and he was really missed because his replacements Knowles and Day not up to it at present. We need another top front man soon..

This is spot on. Knowles is a real gamble and as Garage says Day is not ready. Cannot understand why we have not got another striker in. Could pay for it down the line.
