Looking through a programme from April 2008 yesterday (well there wasn't much on TV), and came across these attendance figures for home games...2 years ago but it feels now like a parallel universe:

Clitheroe (FA Cup) 516

OK, so some of these teams will have bought decent numbers of supporters, even so the figures are staggering compared to today. I also recall that we were being 'told off' every week by the Directors because they thought crowds went big enough
One of the many odd things about this season is that not only have 'crowds' collapsed, but the Board seems to have accepted it without a murmer: we never hear a peep about attendances now.
I think we must have had about 450 'core' supporters two years ago: now...150?
