Press coverage
I don't know what is in the Harrogate Advertiser this week about Town but sister paper Wetherby News, which usually gives good coverage, has just a three sentence report of the Hednesford match; no mention of Curzon Ashton and no preview of Saturday's important game.

Re: Press coverage
Advertiser coverage very poor this week. 2 matches this week no proper match report for either just brief outline, they obviously had no reporter at either game.

Re: Press coverage
Trouble is Ed White spends all his Saturdays playing cricket. Doesn't really care about football till the end of September! Get yourself down to the CNG Ed!

Re: Press coverage
What does he do Monday evenings, badminton? Don't think i'd last very long in my job if i couldn't do it properly because i'm playing cricket.
Surely the Advertiser has more than one reporter!

Think i must have been dreaming, but i'm sure Harrogate Town played a couple of games over the bank holiday weekend. Can't see anything on our wonderful newspapers website.

And when the cricket season is over! Amazing how quiet our old friends Town Supporter, Ultimate Warrior and the one and only Dark Knight have gone isn't it? Maybe if Solihull beat us they will be back.

I'm expecting six pages of wall-to-wall coverage tomorrow starting with the front page!

Re: Press coverage
Don't be too disappointed TS! Neither the front page or the back, the egg chasers are back, so, of course, that is more important to the Advertiser. We don't even make the next to back page (Railway have that honour). We get half a page further back. The excellent John Harrison supplies the match report, Ed White nowhere in sight. Our best league position ever and that is the coverage we get. Oh well, lose on Saturday and back page coverage guaranteed! Its a disgrace, and I don't even live in Harrogate.

What a joke putting one of the most slapdash and amateurishly run HG sporting teams on the back page - maybe the Advertiser should have a think about a) what crowds they get b) the prospective levels of professionalism and facilities up at the joke new ground of theirs.
Surely in purely editorial terms we are far, far more news worthy than a load of Leeds based RU journeyman who have isolated their club from their town and severely harming the code of RU in HG, whilst showing gob smackingly arrogant attitudes towards some of their former members and teams?
When four pub benches equal your main stand, joke accessibility to the ground and the binning off of a number of their own teams at the club is their current state of play, I think it be perfectly reasonable to relegate them to footnotes in the sport page and not the joke of giving them top billing on the back page when frankly the team and club as a whole at Town deserve the blummin plaudits!!!!
If the Advertiser is reading - why not look into where all the money from the ground went and why it is considered a shambles by so many local Union players in the town.......

Re: Press coverage
Not bought it yet, thanks for the warning. Still nothing Harrogate Town related on the advertiser website yet since last Friday.
The advertiser is indeed a joke as Carefree says, as Harrogate's highest placed football club on the football pyramid I would have expected a minimum of 2 full pages on Harrogate Town, it sounds like what they've printed isn't even their work.
I would expect Harrogate Railway to have 1 page. Knaresborough Town & Tadcaster Albion to have half a page each.
The paper has obviously not heard of the football pyramid.

Re: Press coverage
I complained to them a few years ago about their shoddy football coverage. I was told they had to be fair to everyone to which I replied being fair doesn't sell newspapers. Football should dominate the pages but the trouble with this town is everybody wants to be famous so it's all about getting their mugs in the local paper and clogging up half the sports pages with minority bollocks like underwater tiddlywinks or yoga stare off competitions.Carefree wrote:

Re: Press coverage
The paper as a whole is diabolical and gone down hill over the last decade. But then a lot of regional titles have faced the same issue, of falling revenue and a difficulty in retaining anyone of any talent.
They may as well have a pack of teenagers on twitter - would get more insight.
They practically **** themselves whenever Menwith Hill is mentioned - like they might have to actually do some journalism. All they are is a glorified free sheet in journalistic terms. Hence why the brilliant start and progress made at Town has completely flown over their head.
That said the club need the paper more than the paper needs them, certainly in the terms of using it as a platform to derive more interest and therefore more HG residents down to Wetherby Road.
