Danny Ellis

This looks like a good signing - strong, bags of experience, fresh from a successful season at Guiseley ..... oh wait a minute, I was writing the same thing last year!

Well said. The last 3 signings all look potentially very promising, but 'potential' is the word. We also now I have (I think) 19 players signed up and (presumably) we still need a second keeper and (hopefully) SW is still looking for a 4th striker now that Chib isn't re-joining us. Could be some good players on the bench! Ellis surely has to play (left back), so where does that leave Swain?

Just for a bit of fun (well, June is a slow month), Ive come up with a possible starting XI for August. How about this:

Crook, Turner, Ellis, McGurk, Sheils, Gascoigne, Nyoni, Fallowfield, Daniels, Clayton, Thewlis

On the bench: Swain, Kerry, Emmett, Cadman, Beesley

Missing out: Cadman, Thirlwell, Bloomer

I'm assuming (please!) that Speight will have gone.

Any thoughts? Tough on Emmett and Swain I guess, but dare I suggest that maybe Emmett is a little over-rated

Judging from comments on their Fan Forum they really (really) rate Danny Ellis, somrthing of a Guiseley legend it would seem (some rather unkind comments about our manager as well!). Still, seems like an excellent signing.

And yes I know Ive put Cadman twice...its a hot day!

Best CENTRAL defender at your level - no doubt about it. He's still going to be an Academy coach at GAFC though.

Shame he's gone, very well respected by all of us at Guiseley - to the extent that he was known as "Mr Guiseley"!.

Considering the success (or lack of it) Weaver had with Walshaw, it would be an achievement if he plays him at all ...

This is a good signing for the club, however the fact of the matter that Simon can attract really good players to the club, but fails to get the best out of them only dampens my enthusiasm about the signing.

Sorry about the left back comment, I just did not know where he played. Pure ignorance on my part!
