Great performance today. Crook had a great game. Both goals really well taken with really good build up play. Hopefully it can continue!

Best game seen at home all season- maybe them who stopped away need to do it more often

I'll second that. Hope they had an enjoyable time down at Station View.GARAGE wrote:Best game seen at home all season- maybe them who stopped away need to do it more often

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
One game does not make a season, but a great win. Gascoigne was good at Brackley as well.
Noticeable that Meynell, Kerry not in the squad- on the way out?
Wally on the bench? Has n't scored for a while, but still.
We always beat Boston!
So good to win. It feels like years since Colwyn Bay.
Needed as next week round looks good for the sides below us and a tricky game at bogey team Solihull for us.

Tremendous hard working performance by the whole team. Those who stayed away missed the best game of the season despite the atrocious conditions. Pitch really churned up by the end. Well done our team.

Thought the fans were excellent second half too - we need to get that atmosphere back!

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
Well I was there and yes on the balance of play town deserved the win. Moved the ball quicker, adapted to the weather conditions better, dare I say we even appeared to have a game plan. Jordan Thewlis was my man of the match. Strikes me that the younger lads seem more receptive to Simon than some of the more established pros who know better than to trust a bloke with a proven track record for failure.
Nice touch in the bar after the game with the several bouncers surrounding us - seriously, what did they think was going to happen? A message from the weavers that they're not to be messed with perhaps? A certain former director wasn't impressed that's for sure. Anywa, it's bought Simon another couple of seasons in charge I'm sure.

Nobody could complain about lack of effort this time. Good win but it wouldn't have been such a nervy ending if we had converted the easy chances when it was 2-0.

Perhaps simon used all our unrest as a " get out there are price these lot wrong" motivation? This victory will be spun out in the media like it's going out of fashion

Don't think anyone is getting sucked in UW. A young Town team put in a great performance in tricky conditions against a good team - as fans, we should be happy about that. My thoughts on Weaver remain the same.

Spot on Jordan. Just relieved to see them win and was totally impressed with the application of the team in those conditions. The first goal was a brilliant in the approach play and finish. So was nice to actually enjoy some passing. The table looks a lot better and was pleased we could all make some decent noise to back them. Particularly enjoyed the oi oi oi oi oi chant!
How long weaver takes to ruin this fresh batch remains to be seen but was also pleased to see towntommo get on the pitch :-)

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
It was a good, disciplined performance yesterday, and 3 points is welcome, but let's be realistic. It is 1 win. If they don't build on this result over the next few months, then yesterday's result will just be irrelevant anyway.
My thoughts on Simon remain exactly the same.

Not getting sucked back in, but that was a really excellent performance from an overwhelmingly young team, Simon actually got the selection spot on and the young lads responded. Really enjoyed the game as well (havn't said that for a long time!). Where to start? Peter Crook has to be first choice now and signed up for next season, Swain a revelation at wing back (get the contract out Irving!), Gascoine (apologies for the spelling) and Thewlis are real class, need to get that loan turned into signatures before other teams cotton on, Nyani looks good as well, Emmett impressive, can only get better, lets hope Hull let us have Ryan for the rest of the season...great player, and if they release him in the summer, lets please sign him up! Thought Clayton was great altho' he didn't score.
Line up August 2015:
Crook/Turner, Sheils, Mcgurk,Swain/Gascoine/Nyoni/Fallowfield (with luck!)/Thewlis, Worsfold/Clayton (signed from Alfreton in the summer) Bench: Dom Rowe, Adam, Metcalfe
Happy days are here again!! Well, until Saturday

He has signed for Hofstra Uni, a Division 1 club in the states, for next season according to twitter.

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
3 very welcome and desperately needed points. Can't comment on the game as I wasn't there
! Maybe I should stay away more often. Just hope it isn't part of the same cycle again - we win a game - everybody thinks its sorted, then 3 bad games...
Boston seem to think it was an even game that could have gone either way and blame the pitch conditions etc blah de blah.... (is it true we didn't play with a coloured ball because we don't have any, surely not !)
With our budget, anything less than a play off place is a failure this year (for the management anyway). To be fair, looking at the table, if we beat Solihull on Saturday we could be only 7 points off a play off place. There you are, a positive point - won't last
Oh WEAVER OUT! by the way, told you it wouldn't last....

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
Asked the question on Saturday - we do have orange balls but they are not Jako which you have to use for Conference North games.
Railway's remaining home games are as follows:
Tonight Spennymoor
Jan 31 Prescott Cables
Feb 14 Darlington
Mar 14 Padiham
Apr 4 Burscough
Apr 11 Radcliffe
Apr 25 Lancaster City
TBA Kendall
Oh ! Just found out tonight's game is off.
Enjoy

i bet Omar Bogle scores he usually scores against us we should have signed him instead of Kendall we have the cash, him and Wally up front and we would have been in the top four,

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
true but look at all the games in hand everybody has. it's too late we wont get anywhere near 70 points reckon it will be closer to 50 if we're lucky. how many more games you think we'll lose this season? 3? 4? 5? more? lots more probably. talk of playoffs will only build the sheeples hopes up again. forget it not with this managernobby99 wrote: To be fair, looking at the table, if we beat Solihull on Saturday we could be only 7 points off a play off place.

yes, it was a trip to fantasy land TownLishke ! It's a lovely place, where Simon Weaver doesn't exist but his Dad's money does and we have a half decent manager. A place where it's just a matter of the play offs or automatic promotion and relegation laughable. You had to spoilt it....

Re: Harrogate Town 2 Boston United 1
There's no denying it was a good performance - I'd disagree with any Boston fan that suggests there wasn't much to choose between the sides. The weather conditions were the same for both sides - town adapted better and were more hungry for the win.
I did find it interesting though that some of the most pleasing aspects were the performances of young lads, eager to show what they're made of and not yet accustomed to Simon's limited managerial skills. How long before they too become scapegoats for a poor performance and relegated to the subs bench or moved on?
