Am I going to be the only Town supporter there or has anyone else decided to make a week-end of it and take in the match as well? I'll be travelling with a friend, staying 3 nights doing some sightseeing (despite its recent history Belfast has some wonderful Victorian/Edwardian and more recent buildings...at least sccording to my guide book!), and taking in the game Saturday afternoon. I've 'done' the other capital cities of the British Isles so this will complete the set! Hope they produce a programme as a souvenir of my visit. I have a feeling I might be a lone Sulphurite sat in the stand there Smile

Very Happy Final Score 8-2 to Town. Apparently 4-0 at Half time, and 7-0 within 10 minutes or so of the restart. Sorry i have no idea of scorers, or for that matter attendance, Crusaders web-site was reporting that they would be playing their strongest team, so heres to an indepth report. Well done Town.

    Goalscorers as follows:

    Chib Chilaka x 3
    Paul Beesley
    Alan White
    Luke Dean
    Alex Meechan (Pen)
    Jonny Allan

Liam Hardy said that the performance was amazing and only fell away at the end (when Crusaders scored their two!)

What an amazing result, classic Chib, when he scores he has to score 3 Laughing . The pre season is starting to look very promising for our squad, a 5-0 win then an 8-2 win away in another country! Very excited for the league to start now, the Altrincham game will be a great match, considering all the work done on the pitch and the "squad formula" Weaver is putting into effect. Come on Town!

Wow what a result, especially as the Crusaders are playing in the Europa League this season and Rosenborg only managed to beat them 1-0. Lets hope we can carry this into the league and have a strong start to the season. I'm certainly looking forward to this season!

Wow! Well i wasn't expecting that Smile Amazing perform Smile Smile ance and the goals were real class as well, especially Chib's three. 1-0 after 35 minutes and a pretty fair scoreline, then we just went mad: 3 in 8 minutes before half time, two in the 46 th minute (!) and another on 52 minutes. If Simon had kept the stating XI on we'd have scored 10! Luke Dean I thought was awesome, ran the midfield, but everyone was great really.

SO pleased I went Smile Smile

Well, back home again and Ive calmed down a bit after the scarcely believable game on Saturday. A couple of large glasses of Irish Whiskey went down very well on Saturday evening!
A few more thoughts: if that was Crudsaders strongest squad (and apparently it was) then it must rank (friendly or not) as one of the best performances by Town certainly in my time as a supporter. Crusaders looked quite skillful, they passed the ball around well, but their finishing was poor and we seemed able to almost walk through their defence at will (how come they only lost 1-0 to Rosenburg?). As I said Saturday I thought Dean was superb, but he had lots of space to play in, Chib looked really dangerous, should probably have scored 5! I was impressed with Beesley as well, to be honest thought he looked a bit out of hisd depth last season, but he and Chib made a great partnership in the first half. Samuels impressed again, but hard to fault anyone really.
Bit of a mystery how we struggled to get a 1-1 draw with Knaresboro', but I guess thats pre-season for you. Wednesday's game becomes even more interesting, will Town carry this form on? My guess would be thast the Irish League is roughly Conf Premier standard, so we should really be nailing teams like Railway.

From what I have seen (and read) my starting XI against Hinckley would be: Viega/Samuels,White, Killock,Merris/Bolder,Dean,Bolland/Meechan/Chilaka,Beesley

This is tough on Radcliffe, Adam and a few others, but only XI can start. My subs would be: Radcliffe,Nowakowski,Allan,Stimpson,Youhill

This looks a good squad, but when the 'real' stuff starts, lets hope we carry on this form.

Ive forgotten Lee Elam, I'll have to find a place for him on the bench! Tough on Matt Bloomer as well. I don't envy Simon choosing his starting XI against Hinckley, some tough choices to be made.

Hope you've all seen the goals now! What do you think...brilliant Town attacking or woeful defending? Put it this way, I hope Hinckley defend like that on August 18th, but kind of think they won't Shocked

And yes it was 8 goals in 90 minutes but, unbelievably, 6 goals in about 13 minutes either side of half time.
