Thought our tactics with long high punts upfield against one of the best defences in the league were poor. We really do seem to struggle against top teams to score which is strange because we are the leagues top scorers. Beck again didn’t get the rub of the green but thought he played well as did both c/halves. Leesley even got 2 decent crosses in!!
We are going to need some luck to get in the playoffs with the games we have left starting on Saturday with the easiest of them Maidstone. They will be fighting for everything because they could get relegated if we win.

We were dangerous down the right in the first half the left was non existent - Leesleys crosses were poor only 1 in first half hit a team mate. Didn't like his berating of his team mates either. He was at fault for the goal that should have stood for Salford in the first half when the ref blew for his foul because he didn't come back to help defend so was late for the tackle. He did the same in the second half which allowed the cross from which Fallowfield concede the penalty. His crosses did improve in 2nd half I think he got 2 but he gave the ball away so many times. Too many hoof balls to their centre halves who just loved it.
All in all we did not deserve anything - for the first time in a long time we didn't look like a team tonight.

Totally agree with you Whiterose on your last comment. Why did we play Leesley when Thommo has been playing exceptionally well? Very strange decision. Leesley totally changed how we play, all he does is disrupt the team. At times tonight because of this, we looked like a team who’d not played together. Really dissapointed with the result to say the least. Still, it’s in our hands to stay in a play off position, and I’d of taken a draw all day long before ko. Come on Town, we can do it.

Our concentration levels were vastly improved from the Barrow game and we dominated large parts of the game playing some good football .... but incapable of scoring a goal
Apart from set pieces, the chances we do carve out show up the limitations of our attack.
Also, good though some of our set piece play can be, good defences are capable of snuffing them out most of the time.
The bottom line is the result, and for that reason Salford deserved to win - ie without Belshaw's saves they could have scored 3 more and i can't remember Town troubling their goallie with a testing shot on target.

Can anybody understand the logic of bringing Williams on at 90 + 3? As a proven goalscorer (see his past record) what has he done to deserve this treatment?

No logic at all. Even the BT comentators were querying why Williams was not on after 70 mins.

As said before not convinced with the clamour for Williams as goals in league below don't really count. He is not a replacement for Beck as he picks up on pieces in the 6 yard box so you would have to drop Muldoon who is more of a team player. However sometimes we have to change even if it is to give the opposition something else to think about. So would have given him longer but easy with hindsight

Regarding Williams, its fair to say that Harrogate have done really well this season, probably above most peoples expectations. Players have risen to perform well in this higher league so whats to say Williams would not perform well!!
The guy usually gets to come on with 10 minutes or so to go which is unfair to him. I understand the point about Muldoon who has had a very good season, but sometimes substitutions need to be made earlier which apart from the Barrow game Weaver never does.
We are are guilty of missing many chances this season which could have turned draws and defeats into wins, and this even though we are the leagues top scorers. I just think Williams deserves a chance to start in games.
