Boys and Girls this was the best 90 minutes of Harrogate Town football in ages. All eleven players busted their backsides covering for each other, and wanting the ball. Droylsden were no mugs. They were fit, and trying to play football until the very end.
Keeper V - did not have a lot of shot stopping to do. But, he was quick off the line using angles to shut down any possible threats.
D. Sam - best game of the season. With somebody in front of him to work with, he was able to get forward to support the offense. (see Osbourne)
Might Mouse - another great effort, Dave's link up play with Elam was a joy to watch.
'Black and Blue' Killock - the man has got to be covered in bruises at the end of each game the way he throws his body around.
Big Al - only once did we hear "F...ing Hell Ref" ring out across the Manchester evening sky. The Ref pulled him aside, and they had a quiet discussion of the etiquette of modern football. Seriously, the tandem of White and Killock, is growing into a real force in the middle of the defence. And with Merris and Samuels providing cover, this could be one of the best back fours we have had in many, many years.
Adam 'the Rock' Bolden - did you ever wonder what happen to Roy Hunter. He has returned reincarnated as Adam B. Filled the gap between the back four and the front line beautifully. Seemed to always be available for a pass when needed, while protecting the back four.
Mr. Bolland - when you thought the team was slacking up a bit, Mr. B pops up and sparks the game back to life.
Leon Os'bourne-again' - here is hoping his stay with us continues to impress. For a first game with a new squad, his link up play with Dwayne, Chib, and Luke left your mouth watering for more. Faded a bit in the second half, but kept plugging away.
Silver Surfer - Lee hustled his ass off for 90 minutes (thats right, I said 90 minutes). Dave and Lee were working off one another all night long.
The Dean - Luke appeared almost mortal in the first half, but put his cape on for the second half, and never stopped. Must have a little nuclear power cell for an engine. He was a hard tackle away from a yellow card, but held it together.
The Big Chill - As usual, Chib worked his socks off, while being mugged by the defence. Had a lot more link up play with the mid-field in this game, and it showed. His goal followed some great passing which resulted in the ball being played to his feet in the box, he then jucked the defender right out of his boots, spun and put the ball in the back of the net. Brilliant.
Dream Weaver - Simon, you can wake up now. Your team played outstanding football from whistle to whistle. All eleven players were excited to be on the pitch, and wanted to play football. It will be hard to keep them at this level for every game, but this game makes for the possibility of a very interesting season. Keep pushin .......
