Wake up Town Empty Wake up Town

Just happened to be looking at the Stalybridge Celtic website and came across a recent message posted on the forum from their Chief Executive, Rob Gorski. It's not the first time he's posted messages keeping fans up to date with developments as they happen. His messages are always informative and respectful and there's a genuine feeling he cares what the supporters think.

Say what you want, but it looks like we have some work to do. Particularly interested to hear what you think, Alan?

Fantastic result from the lads today, congratulations to them all.

I had a long chat with Jim this week. I told him that our finances were in a much much better position than they've been in a long while (so Glossop Branch sleep easy!) and that although we're not "flush", the board were happy to back him with another signing to create all this great play and possession, into goals.

It's a sign of Jim Harvey the man that he basically said "thanks, but no thanks". He confirmed that he not only believed in these players, but was sure that we would start to climb the table soon. They spent a lot of work this week on finishing and the creative third of the pitch and it clearly worked! Jim is still very excited about this bunch of players he's assembled.

Finally, to answer SCFC4EVER's comments about where Marshy will be in 6 months, he'll be with us. I'm delighted to say that the boss (Syd) text me earlier today confirming that Phil had signed for an extra season and is with us until at least April 2012 - that was planned long before his heroics today by the way!

The plan was, and remains, to build a promotion winning squad and it would be pointless for Jim to nuture these guys and for them all to disappear in April. We may not win the league this year, but this team ought to be twice the team they currently are, this time next season when they've all got a season of BSBN's experience under their belts.

Er, am i now supposed to say "Welcome to the Fold Phil" or something like that?

Sums it up really. What does it cost to keep the fans informed about the club, players, manager etc? You hardly get an hello off the powers that be at Town. I hope they put a thank you message in the FA Trophy programme for the Witton Game for the brave souls who turned up for the Eastwood match. We'll see.

Did Weaver do his homework for the game against Hyde. We have lost to the bottom club in the league home and away in the last few weeks!! Hyde have played 15 league games. They have won 3 of them and conceded 37 goals. The worst record in the league along with Redditch. We managed to score 1 goal in 180 mins against Hyde. In the 13 other league games Hyde let in 36 goals. Hyde have let in nearly 3 goals per league game so statistically we should have scored more than 1. Why are other clubs able to break down their defence with apparent ease? Its because they did their homework and knew where to punish them. Weaver in his post match comments goes on about Hyde and that they should not be down the bottom with the experience they have got. Hyde are bt the bottom because they have not been playing well. Apart that is when they play Harrogate. If they played us each week they would be top of the League!!!

Weaver can say what he likes but as the saying goes "the score at the end of the game is fact, the league table the following morning is fact, anything else are opinions"
