Weavers must go Empty Weavers must go

Post by Guest Mon Aug 25, 2014 9:06 pm

It's time Irving did the honourable thing now and invited interest for someone else to take ownership of the club. On the field I've always maintained Simon isn't up to the job. An attacking coach is unlikely to help a great deal either - with the talent at his disposal it shouldn't be necessary - he's unable to get the players to play - no further analysis needed. We need a new manager. If that means the Weavers must all go then that's fine by me.

And don't forget that off the field the garden hasn't always been rosy. The handling of the Charlie issue was nothing short of disgraceful. The resulting statement regarding fragile and insincere supporters was misguided too. The belief that we're a family club when in reality we have a player with a criminal record and one with an impending court case. Are some of these players really the role models we want for young kids? Would be interesting to get the views of schools. Also seems to undermine the excellent work done by Tad and others at developing the school and community initiatives in the first place.

I could easily go on and on but ultimately enough is enough.

Chips: Why the -1? I'm all for opinions?

Another thing just spotted. 43 users online? 36 guests?

Obviously this mornings comments on the 3 posts may have hit a few nerves.

I wonder how many guests are members of the Ostrich Brigade?

Incredible. The worms have finally turned, the pennies have finally dropped. Some of the posts I'm reading are hilariously ironic. Me and TS have been roundly slagged off on here for saying some of the exact same things that you lot are now coming out with. Some of which literally could have been copied and pasted from our older posts and people I never thought would dare to speak out against the manager are finally getting it.

But it's ok folks, no need to apologise or anything. Just glad everyone has finally woken up and smelt the coffee.

well said, the season is a long one, and last season we lost 5 in a row before turning it around and getting up to 3rd before injuries kicked in. Judgement so soon into a season, and by note, the same person saying the same thing when the results dont go our way, the author of this post agenda has always been anti weaver, never about the football on the pitch, only the people who run the Club. I know from previous seasons, a string of good results and wins, which are coming, and they go silent again, waiting for another bad run. For me, we have the best people running the club, team and get the constant praise of clubs around us on our set up.

-1 Good Luck Simon Weaver and the lads on Saturday! now and always.

Isn't that the whole point? We're just going round and round in the same cycle? I've no doubt you are right. Simon will save his neck with a few results, then we'll crash and burn again.

His win rate is always between 35-40% Very rarely going above that. It's awful any way you look at it.

I thin we will be back up there by Christmas but then crash again! DK is right, its a continuous cycle. We will string a good set of results together then crumble again, I can just see it.

Craig you can't blame injuries for last season's disastrous finish to the season because we had such a huge squad. Anyway, that's over now.

I hope I'm wrong, I hope Simon and the squad will have learnt from last year and will not make the same mistake again!

Its been 5 years - long enough I think ! We've achieved nothing apart form a slightly flatter pitch and some nicer corporate hospitality.

It was clear from the Barrow game that the players (apart from Walshaw) aren't 100% committed. Any 50/50 tackles Barrow won and were unlucky not to win. I suspect the reason is the players know the manager is a clown, and just aswell pocket the money whilst its on offer.

The manager has to go and if that means his Dad aswell so be it. HTFC will survive, money isn't everything as the Weavers have proved.

    (+5 by the way)

actually mate, I can, and do. The injury list has massive, and the squad became bare thin towards the end, we lost alot of very good players at the close of season, and you can't replace them, Franks, Killock, Hall, Nowakowski, Bolder, Woods, we even lost Worsfold for a few games towards the end after his knock, and Anton too. it's not a excuse, but part of the reason. The players that came back like Woods wasnt match fit, nor ready to play, lacking confidence on the field after a returning from serious knocks.

To this season, already the list reads Speight, Turner, Magetts, Kendall, Worsfold, Killock, with Franks back on Monday, hopefully we got Speight and Kendall back with a couple of weeks, Magetts should be back Saturday, Simon set his team plans out and his plans for Walshaw, Kendall and Worsford wrecked by injury, Larkin came back, got injured and left, when the team is at full strength, in particular, when Kendall and Speight for example are back, and our leader, Killock, a run of wins will happen, I just feel it. Too postive or not, I'd rather be that, than the reverse

Sorry Craig I can't agree with this as a reason for failure. Every team in every league in the world gets back injuries so it's not an excuse. You just need to have a strong overall squad to deal with injuries.

Craig, i really do admire your commitment to the cause, however, under the current management/ownership, each season will be the same on the pitch, as it has been for the last few seasons. Simon is too tactically inept and the results are inconsistent, and then the same excuses will come out (injuries, unlucky, blaming the players etc....)

I would love the current management team to prove me wrong, but they wont. After quite a long time, I have finally sided with DK and TS. I have defended Simon on here before, and I will always give praise where it is due, as i'm sure will DK and TS, but we are realists, and at this current moment, nothing on the pitch suggests to me that it will change. If we had the likes of Steve Kittrick, Mark Bower or John Deacey in charge, to name just 3, we would not be having these conversations.

Lets see how positive you and Chips are after 15 games, because based on current form, i'm not too hopeful, although as much as I would like to be proved wrong, I wont be.

Good points Craig and well made
5, 10, 15 matches are all useful benchmarks for evaluation

I stand by my view that the players do not look fit enough. I respect that Rhee are part timers - most of whom have other jobs. But a high rate of injury incidence is nearly always linked to weaknesses to core conditioning / preparation.

When you watch the non-playing contracted players doing a few half hearted intervals on the pitch and the half time substitutes having a gentle knock about instead of getting properly warmed up you have a recipe for poor fitness maintenance.

If some of the 1st team squad wanted to come in for extra training would they be encouraged?

Well Kendall seems quite content to sit in the bar with a pint than get himself fit, never thought lager was the best tonic for rehabilitation...Wont be long before he out grows his shirt like Franks. I think Simon has lost control, if the players are only training twice a week then they should at least be making efforts to keep themselves trim and fit...Even if Franks had to take it lightly, a swimming pool does wonders....Sorry no excuse for either.

DK and TS I have always agreed but I was willing to give Simon longer to prove himself. We are still sat waiting and like everyone else I can not see anything other than a few wins, followed by a losing streak, followed by both again and come the end of the season we will finish between 7th and 10th.

End of season the players will have had enough of Simon and his over thinking, over complicated ways (the guy should stop reading books and maybe strike up some rapport with these players) and they will all jump ship - and so the cycle continues!

Only a temporary tattoo I hope Trevdee!

Paralysis by analysis is always a dangerous game in semi-professional sport. Systems, roles are a poor substitute for playing ambitious attacking football, defending from the front, shooting on sight and playing with a smile on your face.

Might it be a very different dressing room if Matt Heath and Dave McGurk were in charge?

The one thing I asked my self was with the current squad could another manager do better... I looked at our previous manager (who is now top of the conference with Halifax) and thought yes. I then looked at the other managers in the league and again thought yes some if not most could be doing better.

We have the best squad on paper in the league (we havent had that before IMO) and are failing massivly... it isnt off the field, the fans or the stadium which is the problem... so the buck lies with just one man

I was Simons biggest supporter last season (even blindly supporting him at times) but having seen the players reaction and the way we have started the season I think now is the time for him to step away and get a proven manager in to take us up. We have the squad to do it.

Its got to the point that I rate Billy Miller, Railways coach much more highly (working with a nothing budget and playing nice football.) look at the pre season friendly for example.
