    Another tough one Saturday!
They have only lost 3 away league matches all season & have kept 9 clean sheets on their travels!
Although they did lose @ Boston
    scratch

Defence like a steel shutter. Be interesting to see how we match up. If we play like we did against fylde then game on.

Result. Settle for the 3 pts and onto staly. Thought Agnew and Ainge played well and hope Kerry is alright. Top effort.

Thought we fully deserved the 3 points but injuries nearly every game will surely start to affect us soon.  Looks like kerry could be out for some time along with Swain and Shiels. Pittman looks like he's not too interested in playing at the moment but we need him to get sorted.
Hard to choose between Ellis and Agnew for MOM.

Ellis MoM for me. The gift of Ainge just keeps on giving! Loads of endeavour, but the down side is the injuries we keep picking up. Still, the squad we have are strong. Agree about JP - but it's not us who needs to get him sorted - it's him. If he can't get himself up for playing football, something he's good at and for which he gets paid - then he needs to go and do something else.

Really composed all round performance.  Impact Agnew has had is clear and Ainge just keeps on producing with his all round displays. Good to see Colbeck back and performing too. Chorley weren't great and their fans nearly mute given decent numbers. That said I think it was the town performance which made us look like playoff contenders.....just a shame it is all too late. As we haven't done it when it really mattered in some far easier matches. But that shouldn't really come as a surprise. Regarding JP we have some lad who seems to be yet another forward with very good pedigree whose for me as vanished and on yesterday's showing his desire to fight for town.

Normally yes this would be the players fault but seen this far too often,  players we need and can build the nucleus of a very good team around being badly managed  and sent for the exit doors. Surprised Crooky hasn't gone given some of the treatment..  the embarrassing and misplaced injury comments from Weaver post alty game for example.

These players are meant to be managed on and off the pitch in order to extract the most from them,  sadly we seem to be able to do the opposite with, in JPs case,  the public outing of  contractual issues for a lad who has moved his family over and dropped a league following a professional league career to be met with that kind of 'professionalism'....the same level of professionalism as many would have seen last week on Jordans twitter...so wouldn't be to ready to blame the player given the omnishambles by some at the club.

A player by the way we could very well do with next season....unless they are sure we can get another national league goal scoring,  promotion winning,  ex football league lad who wants to help out training kids locally. But I guess the club must regard those as ten a penny given their approach.....

Interesting comments carefree. It is certainly true that every year we sign a star striker and every year (almost), it ends in tears. Can't be coincidence. JP was unrecognisable as the player we have seen all season. Something wrong somewhere.

Brooksby scoes all 3 for BPA.
Never saw a poor performance from him playing for us.
I guess there must have been good reason why we let him go - but i missed what that reason was.

I must say that i thought Chorley were very poor & couldn't see how they've got to where they are in the league but in my opinion it should be midfielders or forwards getting MOM awards the reason it seems to be defenders is that we play far to to deep and just invite teams to came forward so every tackle seems to be a last ditch tackle or a clearing header.

Simon is always complaining (maybe with some justification) about injuries and then lets a good player like Brooksby go on loan, I guess there is some reason behind it, love to know what it is. Like fulhamphoenix I never saw Brooksby play badly for us (what few chances he was given), we sure coulld do with him now. And it would have been useful to have Chib on the bench Saturday, a JP was plainly having an 'off' day. Clee always seemed a bit of a odd signing, but we shoulld definitely have kept Brooksby and Chib in the squad.

Hopefully any signings are off the Agnew nature, ie long term with a view to building for next season and hungry for success. Ideally SW already has a list of targets and we can get through this patch.

As soon as brooksby was brought on as a sub and then taken off 5 mins later (forget who it was against) for "tactical" reasons and he stormed out on full time, I presumed we'd never see him in a town shirt again, shame really as I'd say him and JP were our stand out pre season signings and both seem like there time could be up after 1 season.

Topcat we are also forgetting the geuninely heart warming return of Chib and the comments of oh we got it wrong last time blahblah. For him to then be treated even worse than the first time.

Yep Paul Street. Same every season. Suppose he can 'afford' to take that track and never change when he has the cushty set up he does. Top 5 budget every year and your dad as boss. Hardly gonna make him change. Not gonna make him much of a manager either.

Would just be nice to see more extracted from players rather than good players slowly going down hill. Anyone convinced Crook will stay on.? JP? Thanoj given his transfer fee commanding reputation and how he has played last few months.?
Types of players who should be the bedrock of the team.
Anyway next season will see yet another new cast of good singings with dubious town endings. Groundhog day.

Totally agree Carefree and Paul. Street. Man management is the lynch pin of success for any manager in any team at any level. Other than keeping players fit, I haven't seen much evidence of coaching players to develop (hence the number of players , including youngsters we just discard when they might need a bit of work doing with them) we don't do much to n terms of tactical play - we've played one or two styles throughout the season and so there's only managing individuals left to do.. I admit it's a difficult thing to do - keeping a bunch of young men happy and keen and motivated, which is exactly why it should be given so much credence and not just left to chance to sort itself out and should think of other ways to deal with players besides just offering money.

You are right Blinker. It can't be easy with some of the new mindsets of modern players vs the set of lads we used to have 15 year back.....someone said on here about the Louis v washbag brigade and it's true.
BUT managers all have the same group to choose from and at town given the budgets each year it is a very decent lure to get the right lads in.
As you say coaching them on would be great.....Ainge proves counter to this and needs plaudits but all too many have gone the other way.
I really hope Jack isn't going to be the same. Would be a huge shame as we seem to have this big club, for this level, mentality of just getting more, new and well respected players in to make up for the fact that the last batch didn't get the results Weaver wanted.
Where normally a manager might change and a different ethos and approach come in it is very clear at town that the players are the only fall guys. Year after year.

Worrying bit is that the stakes are even higher next season..... being full time the budgets go up and, I would genuinely like anyone to address this - if indeed any town fans as the long term custodians of the club have been allowed such important information - what arrangements have been made to cover the increased debt.? Given the turn over of players the stakes will be even higher and so too the debt. Knowing the Maidstone model.....who btw are very open about operating costs and budgets and their bottom line.....there is no way on earth we can sustain the impact of full time vs what the Stones are doing regarding their considered approach to the switch.

So where are debts going.? What happens when the Weavers go to this debt.? Do the supporters club know or has anyone asked?

A genuine question that would be great for someone to help shed light on.

Simon is probably already working on his excuses for next season. You know like: 'it will take us a few seasons to get used to going full time, don't expect instant results'.

Funny, this started off as a Chorley game preview and reflection and has now got onto this.
Let me try and shed some light.
The budget will be slightly higher next season as the wages we pay currently are high.
Our average home gate two years ago was just over 600 (including comps) - our average gate this season is just under 900 (inc. comps) and with Salford and Halifax to come it will be over 900.
Our hospitality lounge currently holds 80 and is oversubscribed at present so it is being enlarged this summer to take more paying customers.
Our 1919 venue is now used for more parties/weddings/functions than ever before
    3G.....
The club no longer has the expense of hiring out training facilities twice a week for 45 weeks.
The ground is now being hired out seven days a week bringing in more money to the club.
We will shortly have a second 3G pitch to use and hire out.
    Hope that helps.
