It's the obvious next step in the progression of the club.

Hopefully allow us to compete with other clubs when recruiting players. Can see Halifax and others going full time. Right tough league!

What was that word – sustainable? Will see that word come back to haunt us when we are free of the managerial god that is Simon.
Why does anyone think that will work? Has the all day and increased training helped? Have the extra coaches? The Analysis work? Nuneaton’s fortunes show how Full Time can work at this level. Whilst did being part time hamper Solihull or Guiseley? Does it hamper nearly half the teams in the National? Did it stop Braintree play off efforts in the National? It’s about having the right manager…
Cannot see many others going full time at all. Halifax particularly after their past restarting the club. Why a shed load of clubs stay part time in the national.

Talk of Salford going full time. The club will hopefully up its game across the board.

Salford are owned by footballing millionaires and a billionaire, in it for the club and the club only........can you the same about town? Their time at the club and direction of the club isn't linked to the fortunes of the manager is it like?

If anything this news is a tad embarrassing. Other clubs and any of our fans wishing to extract themselves from the thankless orifice of some of at the club can see this as trying to yet again make up for the fact we haven't had a proper manager for 7 years. Thee can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear as me ma would say.

This is definitely the best thing that's happened at the club since the building of the new stands and installation of the 3G pitch. Nobody should be complaining at this decision as the extra training through the whole week will rapidly improve the players. They are all already top quality players at this stage and this decision will improve there play and mind set on the pitch. I personally can't wait for the next game as this decision has given me hope for the future.

Don't think it's embarrassing but that's just my opinion. Hope other areas of the club are also prioritised and continue to move forward.

No surprise we ended up getting a 3G pitch once it was voted in by the Conference League

No surprise we are now going to go full-time now we have our own training ground!!!

With the players being able to train through the day next season we should be able to increase the time the pitch can be hired out during the evening!!!!

Was inevitable I suppose, don't imagine many if any of our current squad have proper 9-5 supplementary jobs as it is so make them work more for there wages, most reports suggest we work on a budget well above part time football anyway.

I'm expecting 2 things to come from this at the end of the season a complete squad overhaul, and a hike in admission prices

On a plus side mr weaver has zero/very little excuse for not producing the goods next season.

Who do people think we will retain in our new full time squad?

Another question to pose topcat is who will leave as full time doesn't suit or who gets poached by another club. Not sure on 1st issue but Jack Emmett has got to be attracting interest. Other players haven't been consistent enough, either through injury or formation or dips in confidence. Will Ellis sign on given his injuries this season? Chib? Brooksby? Swain? Parker? Crook? Platt? Certainly be interesting

Current squad I would offer full time contracts to

    Crook
    Ellis
    Ainge
    Turner
    Emmett
    Kerry
    Burrell
    Leesley
Brooksby (although I think he's done at town)
    Colbeck
    Pitman

Knowles and Parker if they can prove there fitness.

Season really is over now so off for a hols. Short and sweet on this messageboard lark.
See thee next season when we await what topcat calls right on the not producing/ no excuses. Then again......like night follows day.
All would say to you young uns is when you have seen them through the years and have perspective you think about sustainability and the clubs security and existence.

This could ruin the club long term and no pitch hiring out will cover this (anyone know if Maidstone are part-time? Who have 3 times the support), unless there is a financial plan or summit showing the numbers that plant and Co want to make public to show how it work after all the talk about the club being sustainable. Maybe the supporters club should ask or anyone? If it isn't sustainable what happens to any debts built up when the inevitable happens like and they go? Who is left with that? Then again maybe he could go another 10 year plus like one of my lads footy manager games. We can but dream....
    See you come summer.

Its been a while since i last posted, been in Canada for 9 yrs now so i only have you guys and everything i can find on the computer to go by on the day to day happenings at HTFC. Alot has changed over the years, and everything behind the scenes has taken a huge leap forward in my opinion, and defiantly for the better. The club is now set up for the National league and possibly leaugue two, but for this to happen we would have to upgrade the management and coaching staff in my opinion. Going full time is great and a massive step forward. The players should only get better by going full time, and they should become fitter as well. But my one concern is the manager and his coaching staff, the one reoccurring theme on this site is that "Simon" is tactically naive and for some reason never seems to get the best out of his players. So somewhere or something on the training pitch is going wrong!! so my question is? Player X trains 10 hours a week under the current manager and his coaching team and throughout the year he doesn't improve due to a tactically inept coaching team. So now we have gone full time, and Player X now gets to train with the same tactically inept coaching team for 40hrs per week instead of 10. the result? Funnily enough there is no change at all, as the player is still being coached poorly i guess, the only difference should be a fitter player. I hope i am wrong with all this, but unless we change the manager then really we are still sailing in the same boat. That may be great for some, and yes Town have come along way, with great fans and a great infrastructure, but i for one would love to watch town (from my laptop in snowy Canada, at 7am every Saturday morning due to the time difference lol) play at the next level with bigger crowds and the chance of TV coverage.

It was suggested last night at the supporters club meeting that there would be an announcement at some point in the near future (very near as it happens). Ged confirmed that there Simon and Irving were keen to meet with the supporters to discuss the announcement today. This will happen within the next couple of weeks.

I was under the impression that some news would come out in the next couple of days i.e. Going full time and there was a further news to come out with a meeting planned in the next couple of weeks?

Is the assistant manager still around? Cannot remember seeing him the last 2/3 games. Haven't really been looking for him but just wondering if something has happened.

6/3 sounds like the lads are playing for their full time contracts.
