Post by HTAFC Away Travel Tue Nov 08, 2016 2:28 pm

The road to Bradford begins this evening with out second round home tie against Barnoldswick Town.

I realise some see this competition as a hindrance however it is a great opportunity for our youngsters to get some game time within the mens game (rather than Under 21 level).

Kick off is 19:45 and admission is £5/£3/£1

Whats happening to our side . They won easily 4 0 last night but the manner of our play is very worrying. They play sidewards and backwards all the time giving the opposition plenty of time to reorganise and we never shoot at goal. Leesly is a prime example . He is not the player we had at the beginning of the season.
Will the game be on this saturday if the snow does not go away. Does anyone know what happens on plastic pitches when snow is around. I would think it will be too slippy .

Did not go last night, pleased we won, of course, but I must confess I was amazed at the team selected. I thought it would be the full under 21 squad more or less, what with the risk of more injuries etc. Seemingly Platt and Chib went off...serious? Anyway good for Brooksby's confidence to get some goals and Robertson as well. Bit surprised our new keeper wasn't given a run out.

Maybe Simon felt it was important for the first team squad to get the confidence of a win behind them before Saturday. Any thoughts?

Apparently keeper and Clee ineligible due to not being at town long enough? Sure someone will clarify! Performance was ok but we need to start going through the gears a bit. Opposition were sitting deep with plenty of players behind the ball and trying to hit on the counter but we need more crosses from our wing work to Chib and co and shots. Tamworth will be telling

    Correct about the inneligibilty.
Thought we played well within ourselves and, after a heavy training session on Monday morning, it was an easy evening work out.
Barnoldswick played their part in an entertaining game.
    Campion at home next.

I was surprised at the team but it gave a run out to some players who hadn't really played on Saturday and/or who are lacking minutes on the pitch. Chib appeared to have a dead leg so hopefully he will be ok on Saturday. Platt was possibly his ankle. Down to the pitch maybe?

Well done for getting along to it. Was surprised as well at the team but as said maybe it was getting players back confident for Saturday.
    A wins a win.
Also saw the frankly pathetic posting of the stazi ground laws after fans were making too much noise.

Apparently "noisemakers" are banned - do those mean people singing? Another sign that having now got the pitch done after cozying up to fans we are seeing the return of the clubs broader approach.

Ironic on the noise front and it may have been the direction of the wind but last night was the quietest i have heard noise eminate from the ground in a couple of weeks, when the 5 aside games have been heard from my house most weekday nights until 10pm for the last few weeks. Perhaps why they are so worried about too much noise from fans. Blokes running around shouting at each other nearly every night ok.
Fans backing their team - the very reason for Wetherby Road on the couple at most times we play each month at home mid week - bad.

Anything interesting stem from the supporters meeting? In fact do the supporters club ever publish minutes? Let alone promote them?

Carefree - The supporters meeting hasn't taken place this month yet. Awaiting confirmation of date. Ged sends out minutes each month to members.

Was rumoured to be one a few weeks back? The previous one wasn't published as a date either.
Are the minutes every circulated to wider supporters just so we know what is going on? Would be handy in light of developments over the last few months.

Perhaps they were more worried about the Neighbours meeting which is due to take place at the 1919 this evening?

Either way, it will have something to do with money. I overheard some of our fans discussing the supporters club last night and it appears a few more of our hard working volunteers/supporters are considering whether they wish to continue with their positions within this.

The original meeting was going to be on the 2nd November, but it had to be put back. I understand the next meeting will take place next week and Ged is sending out an agenda.

All meeting dates are published to supporters club members. Ged emails the dates out to all members and the dates are also usually put on the supporters club facebook page. Only members are sent the minutes. There has been talk previously of the minutes going on the website.

If you're a member of the supporters club and not receiving emails then I suggest you contact Ged.

Club and some supporters need to find common ground on a variety of issues. Hopefully through discussion that can be done. Hopefully we will see continued progression on the pitch this Saturday. Would be good to see a poppy collection on the Saturday or involvement of army.

Cheers for the info Kat. Would be good if the minutes were published as not all fans are members or if you are sometimes it is hard to make it given the issues around landing a date and communicating it.

As Surplus says the general direction of travel with fans and club means that it might be nice for the fans group to somehow help this by releasing the minutes at the least.

    Cheers Jordan and Kat.

Nothing like that feeling of inclusivity hay Townfan. And increasing numbers of fans wonder why there is a re emerging gap between the actions of a few at the club and the fans.......I hope this isn't the exclusive attitude other members have!

Who said I was a member? I am not.
My point is...why should the Supporters Club, whose members pay a subscription, let others see what is going on without spending a penny.
I repeat...join the Club and see the benefits.

Benefits to whom? A select band that get access to a load of secrets like a boy band fan club or a keen group of town ultras acting as enablers for the wider supporters as a whole to know what is going on, especially given recent months.

Or are you advocating that the group acts like a closed shop based around the privilege of paying cash once a year? Just about the communication side of things and nothing else.

There was no insinuation if you are or not a member - I couldn't care less tbh

How can it be a closed shop when ANYBODY can become a member!!!!! ?
"Secrets"....What are you talking about? Do you really think that the club will divulge anything of significance until it is the right time. The AGM is the place where these things are talked about.
The announcement today that Stewart, Purkiss & Gascoigne have all left the club and Louise Swain has come back is an example.

Couldn't post up about Tamworth but gutted with the result. Nearly men again. Needed to manage the game out at 3-2 up but looked like we ran out of legs. Another 'should've won game'. Fairly strong side as well. Losing Parker again, happy for Chib but very few positives

Thought we are slowly getting better in the best game we've been involved in for some weeks. Started to go wrong when Simon started changing the team and we lost our shape. Tamworth are a good team but we could have beaten them. We seem to be having lots of deflected goals against us recently. Ainge and Burrell were our best players with Crook a close 3rd. We still need around 11 to 15 more points to avoid relegation which is starting to look a remote possibility.

Tough to take, really thought we would win it! Play offs looking increasingly unlikely now, 9 teams above us now. Amazing crowd (975!), but will they keep coming back? Have to beat Brackley to keep our season alive. Could be a long winter!

The way things are gong at the moment I don't think we will get anything at Brackley who, like Tamworth, are on a great run at the moment.
Another deflected goal, two pens not given and their fourth was clearly offside. But another good crowd who will keep coming if the entertainment served up today continues. Just need that bit of 'run of the green' to go our way for a change.

Just listened to SW's post match interview. Not happy and doesn't pull punches. Thing is how do you go about changing things mid season. No reason why we couldn't beat Tamworth today and again Parker going off injured led to an enforced change but we just sat deep and gave them space. Really disappointed and what with the self inflicted stuff off the pitch........
