The tough games keep on coming.
Interesting to note that, according to a post on their forum, we play on AstroTurf. How 1980's.

Watch out for McQuilkin - very versatile player for Kiddy.

Yes KcQuilkin is a key lad for them. Great player for this level.

WOnder which side we will face tonight. Seem to blow hit and cold at the mo.....capable of losing to FC United at home but then going toe to toe with Fylde

    Their first is lovely football.

Could've done with a result out of the Chorley game but hey ho, SW will have to raise the troops and hopefully we'll get something from home advantage!

Odd decisions abound. By the ref for the sending off. We did quite well with 10 men tbh. Yet, we see Chib nowhere tonight and a centre back up front. We have mustered 3-4 shots on target in 270mins of football and it ain’t looking good.

Yet that is the positive. The reality is that we might have some issues on the pitch but compared to the shower of 'fun' consistently served up by, paid professionals, intrusted to run the club off it, it pales into insignificance.

The latest being the drum issue. Less than a week after being praised by Simon for the nonstop support at Fylde, we are told that we cannot use a drum at home games due to a few complaints from neighbours. Sorry, how long as Wetherby road been home to a football club? At a time when the club have traded off the back of a genuine, proper football club atmosphere generated by that core of support. The players love it, the team management do and it has added considerably to the marketability of the club. Yet the decision adds up to a long line choices made not only this year but over the last few that border on the naïve at best.

Yet again the input and soul of what being a football fan is about is removed from the town experience. Remember all without direct legally enforcing notice or indeed long terms issues from the council. When asked about it, Gary Plant showed there was no enforceable (be it legally or contractual) reason for the ban, as with the draconian and ill timed smoking ban, as with the issues around the bar licence at half time. Genuinely interested to see what the impact of two small incidents can have (and a bit easily stamped out fools at the window taunting fans with a beer) vs far greater scenes played out places like Taddy or our buddies down the road at Halifax has on their bar access. It certainly isn't usual and is hard to see how it would be enforced against the lack of any precedent that I know of throughout the various levels of football. Thought and consultation rather than just reaction I suppose is what would be good.

Why not stand up Gary and be counted and serve, as a paid MD of a football club, the supporters who are the bedrock of your custom? Or are you contradicting everything Simon Weaver says about the importance of having an increasingly committed, wholehearted and noisy set of fans? Or are fans at town bystanders in a far more ironic way than just being supporters? Why are you making the club as exclusive as possible? Were you at Fylde who seemed to have grasped the concept of making football as inclusive as possible so wholeheartedly? Go on answer that as, you are no doubt a voyeur of these pages.

When not employing “Saxon Security” and their misinformed and bolshy staff( all the familiarity and approach similar to those experienced on a far larger scale by West Ham), you are putting off many well intentioned volunteers and supporters.

If the club has any TRUE intentions about its support and acting like a proper football club, not its pipedream once a season support but the bedrock of support which has changed the club far more than superficial initiatives by those clinging to coat tails, does the club not think it would be worth having genuine engagement with the fans that runs far further that the frankly tokenistic, lip service paid that stands out a mile to anyone?

Perhaps if the MD of the club turned up to the supporters club meeting to address the growing number of self-inflicted issues (many of them basic issues that cost the club money - that volunteers would have gladly helped with) that might be a start, he wouldn't be hijacked by folk after the game - time and a place and all that for these discussions for supporters and officials to remember. Until then we are seeing playing out, despite the best efforts of SOME at the club and particularly the fans last year, a continuation of the same narrative of previous years and the very stark reality of what the club could be seen as potentially being a vehicle for.

On the club's twitter page they have been sharing tweets from Fylde people plus a video of Simon Weaver all boasting about the clubs wonderful support at the weekend. They can't wait to tell everyone what wonderful fans the club has. An official from Fylde even went out of his way to jump on the bus before the supporters coach departed to praise our wonderful fans and tell them they are a credit not only to Harrogate Town but also the sport of Football.
What do the officials of Harrogate Town do 3 days later, they kick those very same supporters in the teeth by banning them from banging a drum at a football match. Pathetic.

Really feel for the fans, always get behind the team..fantastic as always, yet... SW looks like a rabbit lost in the headlights of a car..Clueless..We are a team in free fall at the moment.
Crook is a keeper lacking in confidence who should have been rested weeks ago.
Gascoigne is so,so slow.Is he really up to this league standard?
Thanoj is so hot and cold.
    Leesley..see above.
Robertson ...10 clubs plus says it all..
Parker great if fit, seems he's out again weeks?
Yes, the ref was the worst at the CNG for a long time ..agreed ..yet all i wish is ..play your strongest team ...not rocket science is it......................

Typical blinkered naivety by those making decisions at the club, smoking banned, dogs banned, amongst other stupid decisions, and now to ban a drum because it makes to much noise and upsets 1/2 neighbours, but then persist with a PA system for 20 minutes before the game and all the way through half time that is that deafening you can't hear yourself think! Bravo P***t Bravo

    Smoking bans
    Dog bans
    Drum bans
    Bar shut at half time
No alcohol in the ground but then see "corporate" guests sat outside at those table and chairs with pints and glasses of wine.
U16s free for 1/3rd of last season but in no compensation to U16 ST holders
The treatment of volunteers that's have been at the club years forcing them to leave
Giving away 250/300 free tickets to army cadets for a game where we know the crowd is going to be well above average anyway ( anyone see any of those lads last night) give them tickets to Brackley at home when we'll struggle to get 600 in.
Club shop no longer open on match days!

Just a few things off the top of my head that have happened at the club in the last 6/12 months with no consultation with the people that matter the most the fans!

Back to the footy last night.
Simon got it all wrong again in 1st half. You must play your strongest team possible with the resources you have. We did ok saturday but we had better players available last night who should have been playing from the KO. This was shown by our 2nd half display. The least said about Crook wanting to play up front the better.
The drum situation is strange seeing as we have a really noisy PA system. Do we ask the away fans to be quiet please because of the neibours. Noticed the club shop was open last night. Has there been a change of heart.

Really need to keep this train on the tracks as there's just no mileage in falling out in lumps! Won't help the players or team and ultimately the fans! Next SG on 2/11 where we can look to get dialogue going. Are Town under instructions from the council etc etc. After the positive start, injuries have bedevilled us and we have got to channel the frustration and get behind the team. Why we keep having these sideshows is anyone's guess but we need something out of the Darlo game!

Let me first congratulate the ten men of Harrogate. The first half team was really only 10 as donkey Robertson was awful. For me SW selected the wrong team leaving Ellis and Ainge on the bench and yet again Chib ! Day up front showed energy but is a bit lightweight for a centre forward. The first 20 minutes were even with town having the best of the chances, but for me, after that, Kidderminster showed their quality. Our sending off was stupid, boot high tackle with the usual dramatics from the Kidderminster player left the ref no choice.
Second half we played with some grit and energy but the away side shut the door on us really. We could have snatched a point but in reality I thought we were beaten by a better side on the night.
Some poor decisions by the ref, poor decisions by SW and a poor result.

Give Chib a full run out at least !!

Correct Town fan about drumming Saturday but not night games! How much of the frustration stems from the on pitch results and lengthening injury list and how much is about good lines of communication is anyone's guess. Just hope we put on a show for Darlo and get right behind the team. With a full squad to pick from we would be picking up pts but just means we have to do it the hard way and take pts off teams at theirs and make sure Salford and Brackley get nothing out of the game.

    Its not anyone's guess.......

The reasons for this are numerous and never ending one way or another many fans have been impacted by the laughable mentality of a couple of folk entrusted to run the club. The issues arise season after season due to the fact that paid employees of the club cannot and seemingly do not care for the basic elements of running a football club on behalf of its supporters.

It is not a surprise and the passive acceptance of these shortcomings is what allows this parade of japery to carry on. Many of the fans above or in the bar pointing out issues have and will be town fans in 10, 20 years - will the current cast of those paid and entrusted to make the most of Irving's cash? Will they feck. I think we all need to remember this and ask for more accountability and consultation. Something other clubs can offer.

Surely he should have gone up for the corner and then made great haste to get back in goal. Another error of judgement by him which seems to be his trademark ]
