Curzon- anyone want to do a team sheet?

Post by Surplus on Wed Aug 31, 2016 4:36 pm

Can see Colbeck in defence again, Emmett to start up front with JP with Leesley, Burrell and Platt and Thanoj in mid?

Came off with a dead leg.

Not too sure how long it takes to recover.

That would be my starting line up if Parker is not fit. Really hoping Thanoj starts running the show from mid allowing Leesley to push on with Platt acting in a more defensive role and Burrell pushing on to get near to JP for knockdowns. See what Curzon bring to the party but be wary of chasing the game and getting caught on the break.

Sure I may feel better later but that 2nd half performance was pretty woeful. Thought Curzon were by far the better team as we just repeatedly gave the ball back to them, stood off them and allowed them to play through us. Defending that deep was always going to end in disaster. Still unbeaten though but can't see us getting far if we can't perform for most of 90 mins. Bring on FC Utd and put this behind us.

We only played for 45 mins again. When is Crook going to finally realise he is giving the ball straight back to the opposition with his kicking. What are our coaches doing! When he 1st came to us he used to throw the ball to one of our team and we had possession. It's not rocket science!!! Thanoj was a disappointment today but not to blame for our 2nd half.

4-1-4-1 at home? With Kerry out I would have brought back in Thirlwell. Whilst the legs may be slowing down a little his vision, tackling and vocal presence are missing IMO in the middle of the park.First 35 we looked ok then we looked like a team who had just met?Second half they seemed to open us up time after time. When 1or 2 are struggling you have a chance, 3or4 you will always struggle. With no Kerry and Jack,Thanoj and Burrell very quite. TBH Curzon deserved a draw, even if a little hard to take in the 94h minute..

Thought we might hang on to be fair but had no right to, and defending on edge of 18yd sooner or later they were going to get a gilt edge chance. Some games you get away with it (like BPA) but you can't keep turning in performances at this level and not get found out. Frustrating but at least Fylde drew. FC Utd another potential banana skin. Got to treat the ball like a diamond and we are not going to give it to the opposition.

We only seem to be successful at continuous one touch football for 45 mins at most. Curzon got on top in the second half, fed to the more frquently appearing gaps and deserved a draw (although the pen might have been a bit iffy).
After we'd had a miserable draw at home to Altricham, Fylde showed us up by thrashing them 0-6.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fylde similarly beat Curzon by a few on Tuesday.
So much for making the CMG a fortress! Anyway, Ainge and Leesley did put in colossus stints again. Robertson may yet score a lot of goals for us, but loses the ball too often for my liking in build-up play - still it can't be easy coming on as a sub with only a few minutes to make your mark.

All the strikers could up their workrate but you want them in positions where they can hurt the opposition, not dropping deep to get the ball. Quite often they would get the ball but not have any quick pass on as midfield too deep. Be interesting to hear what the gaffer has to say as he's called it right so far. Need to put FC to bed on Tuesday.

Thought the team played well first half and was a good game to watch. Though an annoying lapse for their first goal.
Second half as per the habit that is developing. Thought Robertson was an utter waste of space when he came on. Gave the ball away cheaply, even near our own box and fell down whenever he felt contact. To be fair to Simon at least he went two up front I think when Chib and Robertson came on but why take off JP? Unless he is struggling with a full 90mins. So 4 points to put in the locker under 'chucked away'. Let's hope this doesn't become an ingrained thing in the mind of the team.

Matchday experience for the smokers amongst us. Pitiful. If anyone thinks that is a resolution they are being mugged off frankly. Then again seems we are not the only ones being fed BS by someone at the club on certain fronts at present. Leopard spots and all that.

Forgotten OUR late goals at Worcester & Bradford then?
It's a long season and these things happen. You cannot play well all the time.
Did Gloucester score a late goal at Fylde yesterday to get a draw?
    Still unbeaten.

The word "at" being the operative word there.

    Not at HOME.

    Points dropped/won anywhere - it doesn't matter.
Didn't' Fylde play AT home yesterday?
