Says it is at ours now. Brilliant! Know it wasn't what the club intended at all but as an unofficial curtain drawer I cannot wait

It's great news that the game is now at home as I was really looking forward to seeing the new pitch in action! Surprised the pitch is fully ready for a game though?

Handover of the pitch today apparently. Let's get the word out as it gives us an opportunity to see how effective social media can be in getting fans out and also will show support, not only to the team but also the back ground staff who will have worked tirelessly on this.

Good news and bad. I'd paid for my train ticket to Manchester, organised for once! Anyway great to see our new pitch, even if I am about £11 down!!

I'll stand you a snickers and a Coke if your short Paul
Be extremely interesting to see how we perform on a bowling green flat pitch. Keen to see the strike force in action as well inc trialists!

Re: Hyde Friendly
Good solid win, and some nice football played. Have to sign Robertson surely: 3 goals in 1and a half games! No brainer surely. New keeper looks sound, had no real hard shots to save. Lesley is real class. Quite impressed with the 3G as well. Great afternoon!

Re: Hyde Friendly
Whilst the 3G pitch looked fantastic, I thought with the uneven bounce the players seemed to find it hard to adapt.Might just need bedding in.Very spongy apparently, seemed to sap the players legs?
Very impressed with Andi Thanoj. Also Kerry looked very sharp.Robertson took his goals well and whilst Dom scored, i thought he struggled.Only real moan was our free kicks, everyone ok only a friendly but all were very poor.
Still early days the squad can only improve with time and we will.

Re: Hyde Friendly
It was a good performance, but let's be entirely realistic here, it's been Knaresborough and Hyde we've faced so far, I'm more interested in seeing how we perform in the League. With regards to the squad, if Simon signed Robertson, Assenso and Allison, I'd be a very happy fan.
A thing noticed with the pitch today, the ball holds up a lot better and slows down a lot quicker than on grass. Something for Simon to note.
Looking forward to the season starting now.

Do you know if the sprinklers were used before the game as that slicks the surface up.
I am sure that our manager and our players know how the ball bounces and rolls on a 3G pitch as we have been training on them for more than two years.

Re: Hyde Friendly
I didn't get there until after 1, so I'd assume it had been done and sprinkled. The reason I mentioned the bounce is that our players today were struggling to cope with the way the ball was reacting to the 3G, and to add, I'd think that the 3G pitches that the club have trained on I'd assume are pretty well worn, so it may have caught them out on a brand new surface.

Still quite a few hopeful punts down the channels. Lot less head tennis though and thought we put some good passing moves together. SW's audio assessment was good in that the team need to step it up and build on fitness, sharpness and team understanding ready for the all important Worcester game. Need to hit the ground running this season.

Re: Hyde Friendly
Had to laugh at the puffs of black smoke coming from the pitch every time a player kicked the ball and every time the ball bounced whats that all about? just got to get rid of the smell of rubber out of my nostrils i never thought grass could smell so good after that

Re: Hyde Friendly
The surface has 500 tons of fine sand and very small rubber balls imbedded in it. That is why you see what looks like black smoke coming out of the pitch.rangerider wrote:Had to laugh at the puffs of black smoke coming from the pitch every time a player kicked the ball and every time the ball bounced whats that all about? just got to get rid of the smell of rubber out of my nostrils i never thought grass could smell so good after that

From watching MLS and games on 3G, it appears to be a permanent thing.

Yes it is permanent.
The pitch is maintained regularly to re-distribute the sand and rubber.

Re: Hyde Friendly
Just reflecting on the Hyde game whilst washing up. Got to say, really impressed with Ainge. Constantly chattering and covered Ellis superbly in the box. Thought Kerry, Burrell and Colbeck all had strong games and another highlight was the cross field pass for Knowles goal. Appreciate its only pre season friendlies and the opponents may well give us more space and time but I'm beginning to get very optimistic for this season, even with the strength of other teams, if we can learn to put a long run together this could look very good. The benchmark will be the York game.
