Closed season rambling thread- rumours and hopes

Post by Surplus on Mon May 16, 2016 7:08 am

BREAKING NEWS: STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB

In response to a number of queries received over the weekend, the club would like to offer the following statement to supporters.
We can confirm that the football club will be investing heavily over the summer, both into community football facilities and to the facilities at The CNG stadium.

At this time, we have yet to receive formal approval of any plans, and would kindly request supporters to respect the timescales involved in this process.

A full statement will be released on Friday 20th May, as soon as we have received the required feedback from all the relevant governing bodies.

As always your patience and support
    Is greatly appreciated

Hopefully there will also be substantial investment in the team as well as that will ultimately increase the fanbase and make us more sustainable over the longer term.

Enigmatic statement. Neither confirms or denies plastic pitch speculation. Can't wait till Friday now!

Like the bit about 'substantial investment in the team' Yes please.

Think the team investment bit was Surplus's add in.

An odd statement, we can't say anything for now apart from kind of tell us without actually telling us - was it from Dr. Who?

I thought our new 'Head of Communication' was taking over from Mr Hurle at the end of the season. Its the end of the season guys. (for us, anyway).

Don't get to excited, it was my add on about funds for the team. Just hope everyone keeps their eye on the ball and with everything else going on bring in some signings that will not only allow us to compete but also give us a really good chance of winning this league and sparing all of us the torture of playoffs.

We are expecting to release a statement this Friday concerning ground developments at the CNG.

All supporters club members are invited to attend an informal meeting in the 1919 venue where a 3 man panel (Garry Plant, Dan McGeachie and Ged Maloney) will explain the background to these developments, and answer any questions you may have.

The meeting will start at 6.30pm.

    Look forward to seeing you.

Anyone know what the supporters meeting is about on Friday?

To retro consult everyone that they have started digging up the pitch to replace it with 3g this week. Apologies if it is just some drainage works etc but certainly looks like work has started on it yesterday when I went by the ground.

Makes the veiled announcements a bit of a joke in that case. Hope they get this more right than the debacle of the pitch width change a couple of seasons ago.

Longer term it could be great commercially but will be an interesting time and experience as we make the switch from a purely football perspective.

Wait for the meeting guys. You are focussing just on the pitch development which is just one of several things going on at the club.

Admittedly, in light of no news on the player front, it is quite a big thing to be going on about and focusing on wouldn’t you say? Perhaps could have done with announcing it before work got underway.

Sorry Chips, I think the boat has already sailed on that front…….just take a walk down to the ground and have a look.

If anyone is there on Friday would be great if they could put the low down on what is said on here - my wife was due to drop last week so will no doubt be out of action back end of this week.

Hoping to get along so can feed back. Agree with Townfan, pitch overhaul was scheduled and currently looks like a motor x dirt track so we wait and see. I'm hoping Harry Kane and Jaime Vardy are unveiled as the new pairing upfront, but if not I'll settle for Jermaine DeFoe and Rashford coming off the bench.

We have had the existing kit for two seasons now so would imagine that we will be launching a new home and away kit this summer.

Whilst not yet confirmed through us, I understand we have pre-season games away at Hyde (Sat 16/07) and Knaresborough Town.

Good! Start pencilling in dates! Still want to hear some transfer gossip though, every man and his dog is popping up in the non league news transfer merry go round. At least let us know if chips and Betty's fat rascals are going to be on the menu!

Crikey! Every time I go online something has changed. HTTV now! Let's see how this pans out but steps in the right direction. Website still needs an overhaul though ( check out Fyldes offering plus their club shop)

This is a big surprise. Was not expecting his. Always thought Billy Heath was a fantastic manager. That's a big, big signing for Halifax.

Could this be the beginning of the end for Ferriby's 'Golden Years'? Just got promotion as well.

The wheels would appear to be coming off. Someone needs to have a transfer list and be shaping a teams playing style and doesn't give the new coaching team long to get everyone bonded before their learning curve starts.
