Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
I'd like to see that young lad from Leeds, but having spoken to a few mates who are Leeds fans, or have links to. The lad is known to have an attitude problem and thinks he's better than what he is. Which is what stopped him being offered a new deal at Leeds.

Tom Denton as his critic's but if he is available, I'd certainly go out and sign him. NFU scored 82 goals last season. He not only led the line, but scored lots of goals as well.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
I'd like to see Denton as well, but people seem to be of the impression that we will revert to a 'hoof ball' team if he signed (he is 6ft 7in). I really don't think this would be the case, because from what i've seen of him, although he would offer a different dimension with his height, he has a very good first touch, very good ball control and is extremely skillful as well.
He would be a fantastic addition, but I can see Halifax getting him.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
Lots of mentions of Denton (and I agree he would add a different dimension) but why would he want to leave a side that have just been promoted and will be playing in a higher league?
Would personally like to see Graeme Armstrong back but not much chance of that. Maybe the prolific Billy Greulich - Smith of Shildon as a long shot?

The one i would have gone for has just joined Gateshead from Alfreton - Sam Jones who played some friendlies for us maybe 2 years ago and looked terrific . He was the one who got away when we had him and has turned out to be a big loss . Also scored against us last year.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
The five signings so far have all been excellent, and the defence and midfield seems sorted (difficult to see Gascoigne coming back into it, unfortunately). Still need that 'star' striker plus another one (maybe a hotshot from a lower league). After all, at the moment, an injury to Pittman or Knowles early doors and we are in big trouble. Armstrong I think has signed for Spennymoor. Still think Chilaka worth pursuing, as I've said, you are pretty well guaranteed 14/15 goals a season, maybe more with the right service.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
I think the signings so far have all improved us on last seasons squad. We now have imo one of the best defences in the league with the addition of Ben Parker at left back and Simon Ainge at centre back that's 3 quality centre backs.
It's gonna be a tough decision on who to start in central midfield, my personal opinion would be that we are going to play Tom Platt Defensive midfield with two from Kerry/Thanoj/Burrell playing infront of him and one upfront.
Armstrong wouldn't be good enough anymore I'm afraid anyway as he is getting a lot older now although was class when he was with us before.
I would like to see Chib brought in with possibly another forward. I feel we do need another winger brought in as well. Gonna be a battle for places next season!

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
Hopefully the competition for places will improve the team and players as a whole and individually. Agreed that we still need another couple and that elusive top notch striker. Really seems that SW has done his homework, identified areas that need strengthening and recruited accordingly. Keep the good news coming, sneak preview of online shop would be nice.

Paulstreet is correct - Graeme Armstrong has signed a two year contract for the Moors.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
Another player signs from Alfreton as Joe Leesley joins..!! Sounds like a very versatile player, I remember him doing Turner for pace at their ground last season and that takes some doing!! Great signing!!!!

Quality signing - ripped us to pieces in our game against Alfreton earlier this season.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
Versatile is an understatement. Last England c game he's listed in defence. Elsewhere he's played midfield and upfront. Any takers on what our starting 11 is going to look like?

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
So very tough to pick a starting 11!! Weaver is gonna have a hard time choosing that's for sure!! Here's mine starting line-up atm:
1) Crook
2) Turner
3) Parker
4) Platt
5) Ellis
6) Shiels - Would be harsh to drop him.
7) Brooksby
Burrell
9) Knowles
10) Thanoj
11) Leesley
But as I say it's such a hard team to pick now!! Hard to not pick Kerry, Colbeck, Emmett, Ainge, JPP etc.
We've got such a strong squad and I'll have a better opinion on a starting 11 after the friendlies as not entirely sure how good some are yet. Oooo Town!

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
Very tough to predict given how strong our squad is. A few positions pick themselves but midfield is particulaly difficult.
1) Crook
2) Turner
3) Parker
4) Platt
5) Shiels
6) Ellis
7) Emmett
Burrell
9) Knowles
10) Pittman
11) Leesley
SUBS: Ainge, Brooksby, Colbeck, Thanoj, New Striker ;-)
Then there is still Kerry to fit in!
Pleased I'm not manager.

If thats the case, then transfer frenzy over and straight into pre-season training with the bleep test and a bucket.

Looks like Chib is coming back!
There's no denying chib's a very good player but is he a real goal machine?

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
Don't know what to make of this signing to be honest (if confirmed). I can see why Simon has re-signed him as he will offer a different dimension, but I do have serious concerns over his general overall fitness (Its okay looking good cosmetically, but actual conditioning is a totally different concept). I cant see him commanding a first team place ahead of Knowles and Pittman and I can only see him being an impact player off the bench. In my opinion, I'd have given Reaks from the U21s a chance with the first team.
This signing has also confirmed my suspicions that Simon is pinning his hopes on Pittman and Knowles to be the main goal suppliers this season. With the quality of the Midfield and Wingers that we now have at our disposal. I expect both Knowles and Pittman to provide the majority of the goals this season.
This is probably out of all the pre-season signings we have made, this is the one that excites me the least.

Not a chance, he is nowhere near prolific enough. He hasn't scored 20 goals in a season for several years. I'd be surprised if he got anywhere near 20.

Re: Released / Retained List 2015-16 season
He's more of a 10+ goals a season forward for me but he could make a huge contribution off the bench when we're struggling to score. I feel it's a good signing if true and will definitely get us some goals next season.
