Looks like this season we'll be playing a lot like Solihull did last year, solid at the back hard to beat 1st and win the game by the odd goal, lots of 1-0s next season, if forwards don't fire we won't score anywhere near the amount of goals we did last year, think Simons recognised this and will set us up most of the time not to concede as that's easiest way to win games, it might not be very pretty on the eye tho.

Top Cat, that summation / prediction fills me with dread as the assets form of defence when under consistent pressure is to just get rid of ithe ball as quickly as possible. Will give it a go, but if it is just lumping the ball in the air and chasing after it, I won't be able to stand the frustration and boredom and might have to call it a day. I'm not willing to waste money on something that I don't find enjoyable. I can't see much point in spending all that money on a new pitch if we are not going to try to play football.

I've got no problem with a solid defensive line that can push up high or drop deep and can start getting consistent clean sheets alongside Crook. Hopefully SW is in the process of getting in another few players that can pass and move at pace and that elusive creature, the 20+ goal machine that will work hard for the team.

That creature has landed already in Jon Paul pitman.

Hope your right Tommy. Teams nearly there, just one or two more and another striker to share the load with JP and Knowles.

Does anyone know what pre season training looks like? Do we have access to gyms with personal programs or a conditioning coach ( Racheal?)! Got visions of Rocky and the guys doing lengths at the Hydro and chasing chickens!

Nothing wrong with bringing in better defenders and yes we lost Daniel's but we have brought in a forward guy who could easily play in the National. He played the majority on the wing scoring a few but if he plays down the middle he should score a lot more. I am pretty sure there are a couple more players to be brought in so why are we predicting dreadful football on here? We haven't even seen them kick a ball yet, and going be Simon's interview, he stated the new surface will allow us to play quick football...What is the problem?

I'm sure the gaffer will try to impose a system and style of play that reflects the skills of the players and also uses the new pitch. I've been really impressed with the signings so far, lot of ex-captains and good pedigree in there. It will also be interesting to see how some of the u21's do off to the bench and in any cup runs. Exciting times.

Not on a 3G pitch, I thought we wanted to keep the ball on the floor. We would be encouraging hoof ball if we sign Denton.

Sounds good but take it he is CM – if so we do have quite a few players in that position. International? Take it he is not at the Euros then.
What we desperately need is two more forwards. Would be nice to know if there will be movement on this front as it will be annoying if we repeat again another season where we are brilliant in defence and midfield and hapless again up front. We look weak to say the least in that department.

Agree carefree, defence is in the bag, we've now got a guy who can pick a pass and hopefully unlock a defence as well as dead ball specialist so just got to get upfront nailed. So far, been really impressed with SW's work. Another 20+ goal a season guy who's going to graft. Just what every other club is looking for!

Agree some shrewd signings by SW.Only part of the cog missing is a 20+ goal striker..
Then we would be more than a match for most teams..Still time, so here's hoping.

Agree and a striker is on their way I would imagine.

Out of interest, who would people want? I think we can rule out Southwell (will go to bigger club) and Denton (who is heading to Halifax).

Bring Chib back (think he has left BPA?) and get that young lad released by L**ds. Job done.

Certainly rest of the signings are great (Parker and JPP in particular) and time to do deals certainly up front so no panic but the lack of goals from there last season really did for us and the brilliance seen elsewhere in the team.

Oh any news on Rob Worrall?
