Boston-bring it on!
Boston still to play Nuneaton, nuneaton appealing penalty 3pt reduction, we've still got flyde to play. Let's take care of what we can control and do the business on Saturday! Be good to get some stuff out on FB early so it can be shared about to increase numbers of fans.Could well be the decisive game of the season.

Talk on their forum of trying to get 300+ up here. Should be a belting atmosphere, let's get the info out early doors so we can forward and share it ourselves as not a lot in local paper!

Re: Boston-bring it on!
My starting line-up for tomorrow:
1) Crook
2) Turner
3) Warren
4) Kerry
5) Ellis
6) McGurk
7) Colbeck
Platt
9) Clayton
10) Knowles
11) Daniels
I've heard Knowles is back for tomorrow's game so he would get the nod upfront with Clayton for me as we need goals! This could be Knowles' Chance to get out there and secure us the play-offs.
I would start Warren at left back because at the away game at Boston I seem to remember Swain getting caught out too many times. Warren is just better defensively for me and we don't want to lose this game!!
Platt to keep his place after a MOTM performance on Tuesday.
Colbeck to come in again as Boston aren't great defensively and his pace would really get at them! Emmett maybe injured and I wouldn't like to risk him a start maybe off the bench.
Thoughts...?

Tongue in cheek I take it? Shot shy, goal shy. Would take Jordan (and before you ask both fan and player versions) over him any day and have Clayton in cos he works hard but again goals please. In the absence of Brendon I think his own poor goal return would come into sharper focus too.
Rest of team spot on.
Hearn still injured possibly but not mentioned in match build up as being injured - given his prolonged absence and utter lack of match fitness, hope we are not paying as much as I have heard we may be paying for him.
Hope Super Jacky Emmett is fit enough to make the bench at least. Loved his cameo against Lowestoft. A young Peter Beagrie.

Re: Boston-bring it on!
Definitely start Colbeck over Emmett as Emmett thrives when he comes on as a sub late in the game. I am not sure I would play two up top, it hasn't worked for us at all this season. If I was picking the team I would have Clayts on his own in the middle with Colbeck on the right and would go for Swain on left side, both told to get as many crosses in as possible. I would give Brendan a free role playing off Clayts and just tell him to shoot on sight at every opportunity.
But hey what do I know. I would also play Thirwell in the middle with Kerry and make sure they set the tempo by keeping the ball down.

Just for information Jordan F has hung his boots up but has now moved into a management role which reduces our options!!!

Re: Boston-bring it on!
Clayt's give us more in the way of presence up front, he occupies and niggles defenders and creates space for other players. Goals would be nice but can't doubt his heart and effort. Gascoigne and Knowles don't look match fit for me so hope Jack can continue with his cracking season. Hearn? who knows, would like to have seen him in a few games to see if he could re-develop his strike partnership with Clayts. However, in Weaver we trust so as long as we don't ship any goals, hopefully we can put Boston's defense under pressure and get a couple ourselves. Looks like a good line up to me. C'mon Town.

Heavy rain forecast overnight but dryer after a wet start tomorrow. I'm thinking should be OK.

As I'm not very clever, can someone tell me the best permeatations from the last few games in order for us and who would you want to play in playoff semis/final?

Getting the 1st goal could well be crucial in this game as it'll force the opposition to commit forward. Let's hope it's us!

Boston have no choice but to go for it today. Tactically simple for me today. Keep it tight at the back, keep it nice and simple in Midfield and hit them on the counter when they commit men forward.

I'll settle for that TheNeil. Big game for Platt breaking up play and screening back 4 whilst transitioning play from defence to attack.

Re: Boston-bring it on!
Well.....suppose it was a good point and spiked bostons guns but should've got 3 pts and with flyde losing? would've placed us nicely for 2nd place. Platt had a good game, foster was solid, Daniels was injured for much of the game, best not talk about Thewlis and that miss, but battling performance, just missing that killer finesse and final pass. Really good to see the 50/50 ticket idea, good amount raised for charity, and good crowd. Now onto Flyde!

Re: Boston-bring it on!
With hindsight and a favourable outcome, ugly football seems more pallatable. When the outcome could have been better, the football remains just plain ugly. However, the style of our build up play is largely irrelevant. (Except in terms of entertainment value.) Doesn't matter whether we played like Barcelona or Stoke City of a couple of seasons ago, the result would be the same - because we are not strong enough or ruthless enough in front of goal. We were by far the better team in the first half, but were unable to put away the chances that would have had the game sewn up. Missed chances continued in the second half. In training this week, SW needs to really hammer shooting practice by everyone from any and everywhere over the half way line, until their legs ache, because the reality is that if we don't score goals, we can't possibly win.

Re: Boston-bring it on!
Sure we'll do enough to get into playoffs but big unknown is Nuneaton and their appeal against the 3 pt deduction. Can only hope Boston do us a favour next week and we put flyde to bed. That would give the CNG a top party atmosphere for Corby!

Could have been celebrating tonight and sent 800 Town fans home happy. As it is frustration rules. We should still make the play offs but will have zero chance unless we learn how to bloody score goals. Incredibly frustrating today.

Re: Boston-bring it on!
Agreed Paul. I think it possibly makes it harder to sell the 'town' brand as folk will come for a game and remember the goal less draw. Slight concern re Daniels as he was definitely 75% for most of the match following some heavy tackles early on. Not sure why Mason didn't start and Beesley wasn't going to go the whole 90 so maybe the early sub upset the game plan. But, plenty to look forward too, Burrell is back and hopefully Jack, we've got cover for centre half in Foster. Wonder how much different the season would've ended if we had kept hold off Jerry Yates, regardless of how hard Clayt's battles, we need an out and out goal machine up fronts who can feed off Clayt's and the crosses that we're getting fizzed in.

Re: Boston-bring it on!
Great performance from the back line - solid and never looked unduly worried. Midfield workman like, could tell Daniels wasn't his usual self and missed Jackie. Colbeck at right back with Warren further up - just odd.
As for the forwards, same old. Did Clayton actually do anything all match. Sorry guys know he works hard but totally over rated by some, working hard is the least you would expect from anyone picking up any kind of money to play football. He is not big enough to be an out and out target man to impose himself physically and doesn't score the goals. We are woefully short in this area and another match where 3 points were there for us if we could do the business. Hearn - sack him off where is he? Is he injured? Are we paying any money for him? To be fair to Simon it seemed like a good punt but has not worked out at all. As for Knowles well wear ya gloves son and off ya trot. Again big money for nowt.
Some of their fans behaved like they hadn't been out of Lincolnshire for a looooooong time, felt sorry for the stewards.
